Clove Oil for toothache?

Last week I read in here that the best thing to help with a toothache was Oil of clove (Clove Oil), so I got some from the pharmacist but no one said how to apply it. I put some on a cuetip and put some on the top of the tooth and around the gum area and it not only set my mouth on fire, but ten or fifteen minutes later, it felt like someone was pushing an icepick through my gums to the bone. How is the best way to use this stuff - application wrong or what?

Clove Oil for toothache?
It is indeed a good remedy and the best way to apply it is to use a tiny ball of cotton and drop a bit of clove oil on it and then place it on the affected tooth, making sure it is held there with the help of the opposite tooth!
Reply:Sorry 'bout the spelling, (wisdom) tooth. Report It

Reply:put a little on a pece of cotton. put that on your tooth and leave it there.
Reply:When I had my wisdom teeth taken out they soaked a gauze pad in clover oil and he told me to bit down and keep in place for 1 -2 hours as needed.

Reply:Clove oil is a time tested recipe for toothache, and used in almost all toothpastes.

Of course, it will burn a little, but the best way is to dip a cotton swab and apply around affected area.
Reply:the answer is......hydrogen peroxide! keep using it until it no longer bothers you but stop after that because i think if you use it too long it will bleach your teeth.
