How do you ease a toothache?

I haven't had a toothache since years ago when I was in elementry school. The pain has been going on for a few days...and it's not stopping. To top that off, the pain is in several teeth and my TMJ is acting up. So right now, I've resorted to taking 2 advils every couple of hours (Tylenol sure didn't help.) and applying a heat pack against my mouth.

Is there anything I else I can do? I really don't want to keep taking all these pills for a few painful teeth.

How do you ease a toothache?
You can take up to 4 200 mg advil every 4-6 hours. If you went to the Dr. they would prescribe you 800 mg Motrin for your pain and it is also an anti inflammatory. I have TMJ as well so your ears are going to hurt soon too. You should go to a dentist, you might have a wisdom tooth you never knew about that could be hitting a nerve and it can cause horrible amounts of pain (it happened to me).

Go now! No waiting!! The more you wait the worse it will get and your TMJ as well!
Reply:Try going to the dentist.

Reply:tooth pain is caused by two things usually..........either exposed wiring (nerves) or angry tissue (the beginnings of an infection). from the sound of it you have a combination of the 2.

First things first, get your mouth clean. Now may not seem like the time to scrub your teeth and gums for ten minutes, followed by a good flossing, followed by a good water picking, followed by a thorough soaking and rinsing in mouthwash that contains alcohol, but that is exactly what time it is..............failure to do so means getting an infection for sure and maybe having a tooth pulled or worse..........

save yourself a trip to the dentist and brush your teeth until they bleed, then keep brushing until they stop bleeding. then, brush them some more..........

Using a topical over the counter antibiotic cream on the skin over the affected area 3-5 times a day probably wouldnt hurt either.

good luck!
