HELP! Before my toothache ruins my weekend! :(?

I just got this HORRIBLE toothache last night and it's been bothering me all day. I've been taking Advil for it but it only lessens the pain and not for very long. I'm going to try to get into the dentist on Monday but....this weekend I have a lot going on---I have an easter party at the childcare center I work at tomorrow morning and I've been planning on going out for St. Patrick's Day tonight and tomorrow night. I'd rather not miss out on all the fun because of my stupid tooth....is there anything I can possibly do to help the situation until I can get into the dentist???? I'm desperate!

HELP! Before my toothache ruins my weekend! :(?
First, there are dentist who will come to their office for emergency services and in many cases an abscess qualifies as an emergency issue. While the dentist may opt not to do a complete root canal procedure he can at least open the tooth, which releases the infection gasses, which are usually the cause of the pain, treat with medication and provide you with a pain medication until your root canal appointment. Other than that you can purchase an over the counter product called "Ora-Jel" that in most cases will provide adequate pain relief until your appointment.
Reply:Put an ice cube in your mouth where it hurts and it should numb it a bit. Or find a warm patch to put around that area. Also, you could try rinsing your mouth with warm water and salt. OR You could always go to the store to find a gel or something to help relieve the pain.
Reply:Do something about it
Reply:Try rinsing your mouth with warm water or cold water. One of them should work. And get to a dentist as soon as you can.

Hope you feel better soon :-)
Reply:if you have any antibiotics laying around .. take those.. that will be the only thing that will take some pain away till monday.. the dentist will do that anyway, they cant do anything with your tooth till the swelling is down.. so if you or someone you know has some amoxicillon or anything else your not allergic to.. take it
Reply:Try to cool it down to slow down whatever bacteria you have in your teeth. Do not I repeat DO not Put anything warm on it because it'll get whatever that is making your tooth hurt hurt even more after all the heat is gone because it speeds up its molecules making it expand more.
Reply:Excedrin is the only thing that ever took away a toothache for me
Reply:DONT take antibiotics until you're prescribed them, and take the full course of treatment....Flippant use of antibiotics is a huge factor in the emergence of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria....you basically are given them enough to build an immunity without killing the...the only sure way to take antibiotics is by prescription by a doc, and take the full course, even if you feel better after a few days.
Reply:By your sign and symptoms it seems like you have an irreversible pulpitis and the treatment for it is root canal therapy (Endo) or extraction. Using Ice, heat treatment and using anesthetic gels or sprays won't help you. You should go to a dentist and ask him for an emergency treatment for your tooth, but you should know this emergency treatment is temporary and you should get a permanent treatment as soon as you can.
Reply:Try putting ice in a wash cloth and holding it to the section where ur tooth hurts and hold it there till the ice starts to melt, or ur mouth doesn't feel the pain.
Reply:the most you could do til then is to put an ice pack on the outside of your cheek to try and stop the swelling. do not put it directly on your tooth because it will get worse, trust me it will, put it on for ten minutes, then take it of for ten minutes, and keeping doing that til it feels a little better. you could got to a walkin clinic to try to get a pain killer or antibiotic. hope your tooth feels better
Reply:Mild antibiotics are definitely safe ! and yes it would curb the infection thats troubling you. Without which your weeknd would be on ur bed with a swollen face. I totally agree with Kim ! Dont let a tooth spoil your weeknd !!!
Reply:AHH!!! Don't put an ice cube on it for numbing as someone stated below if you are trying to avoid the pain. It could increase it! If you have an abcess you'll notice throbbing and sensitivity to cold or hot. What you can do is go to your DDS before the day is over and request antibiotics, or see your MD for it. It is the only thing that can help the pain decrease and start to rid of the abcess so you can try to enjoy your weekend. On top of that... Advill is it. It really is the best over the counter to take. Hope that helps.
