How do you supress a toothache for up to 24 hours?

I've got a problem. I have a toothache so severe that I feel the pain all the way up to my ear and all the way down to the front of my jaw. Is there any way I can ease the pain long enough until tomorrow's dentist appointment?

Please respond ASAP. Thank you.

If the pain is that intense you need to let the dentist know NOW! If the tooth is infected the infection could become so bad you need IV antibiotics. If you have been to the dentist there before they should be able to call you something in. If not you should go to the emergency room.
Reply:VODKA, swish it around in your mouth, and of course swallowing helps as well. my wife cracked a tooth and had to wait 3 days before she could get in. The Vodka was almost like a numbing shot according to her.
Reply:I had a simular experience a while ago and this is what helped me. First I brushed and then took a long rinse with listerine. The listerine acted as a sterilizing force and helped dramatically. So much so I rinsed about a half dozen times a day to help with the tooth.

Second, per my dentiast I took both a Tylenol and a motrin (or advil) together. They told me it was the equivalent of a vicidan and that helped too. Obviously you don’t want to do this for a long period of time but when my pain got bad that is what I did and it helped.

I think the Listerine eventually killed my toothache because I still have not fixed the tooth. I just know it felt a whole lot better after rinsing with Listerine. Hope it works for you.

PS: The vodka idea is the same as listerine - they contain alchohol which sterilizes. I would stick with listerine over booze. Cops won't pull you over if your breath smells like listerine.
Reply:i take sleeping pills to relieve the pain... take also dolfenal....
Reply:In Australia, we have something called Nyal "Toothache Drops" - it tastes gross but it will numb the tooth.

Either that, try oil of cloves I think it's called.

Go to your chemist and ask for some toothache drops. Seriously! Go!
