Filing in tooth near nerve...toothache HELP?
the pain will only last a few days or so. then it may be sensitive for a few weeks when you eat but your mouth will heal itself.
Reply:Hi,the pain should go away if it doe's not then go back to the dentist.Good Luck
Reply:when u filled it... if in the last week or the last 10 days... it's normal fo feel fain, mainly on cold.....

but if it is month or more ago.... it should be retreated and i think it needs root canal treatment....
Reply:Don't worry about it, just trust your dentist! And maybe avoid sugar... That way you won't have to go through it again!
Reply:Mr Dental is right, the same thing happened to me, I had to have a filling because one of my teeth was extremely sensitive, I was concerned about a filling not working and having to have a root canal, but luckily the filling worked.

It is best to avoid eating on that side for as long as possible to give the filling chance to set, I think I was so apprehensive because of the pain I had previously suffered with.

But if you do have a filling and after a couple of weeks it doesn't make your tooth feel any better, be prepared to be told you need a root canal.

Good luck.
Reply:Go to the drugstore (or if you are lucky, send someone for you!) and get some of the products used to help babies as they are teething.

I know it sounds weird, but there are gels that you can put right on the gums or on the tooth, and they do help. Also, pick up a tube of Sensodyne toothpaste - it'll help as well.

And an old wives tale, that seems to work, is to prepare a small glass of warm salted water with a litttle white vinegar in it, and rinse your mouth. Rinse all around the area. There is a product called aspergum, but I don't think it will help you.

You know, one other thing might help, and it has to do with your sinus cavities -- mine rest too low and sometimes make my teeth hurt. If you are congested, it can cause a problem with pain too.

Then if the pain cannot be controlled, be prepared for a root canal. It's expensive, time consuming, but sometimes it is the only answer.

If the pain gets too bad, call the dentist right away and have him look at it. I had a root canal that bothered me for years -- and when it was redone, they discovered a small stick had been left in the canal.

Dentists can do root canals, but I would never have one done there. Go to specialists -- a dentist may do 10 root canals in a year, but a specialist will do that many in a few days. The skills really show when your teeth no longer hurt.
Reply:you shouldnt have a filling touch a nerve. dentist need to redo the filling
Reply:Maybe, many times a filling put near a nerve can be sensitive to cold for long periods of time. Mine was sensitive for almost a year. Did not normally keep me up at night though. White fills are especially common for this to happen. The medicine may be enough to calm the tooth so it can heal and be fine or it may not be. If it starts to be extremely hot sensitive you may have a problem. Give it some time, but if it is keeping you up at night and unbearable it probably needs a root canal. Mine was mainly sensitive with cold drinks for about 1 year and very sensitive almost all the time the first 14 days.
Reply:There is no telling if the tooth ache will go away for ever, to nerve/pulp inside your tooth may be dieing, and if this is so, you will need a root filling, don't be too alarmed this is a routine procedure, normally takes 2/3 visits, and wont hurt any more than a normal filling,

Or on the other hand it may just fade away and you will be pain free. Hope this helps, and you will be OK soon.

Reply:aww I really feel for you, I am in exactly the same situation, went to two different dentists on the same day, was in so much pain, i ended up crying, felt so stupid, went through a 16 packet of nurofens in 24 hours and was still restless, I am currently waiting for a referral to the dental hospital.

I have a special yet sensitive case because my mouth doesnt open very much, dont know what the problem is but its been like that over 4 years, the dentist have to use kids equipment, its a real difficulty in my life.

I will prayer for you.
