What is good for a toothache besides orajel and anbesol?

i have a toothache and the dentist don't open until monday. i am in extreme pain. what do you reccomend?

What is good for a toothache besides orajel and anbesol?
are u allergic to any medication? are you taking any meds? if not, you may try motrin, which is ibuprofen. it is available in every pharmacy. it comes in 200mg. you can take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain. it can help with the pain and inflammation. but make sure that you take it with food or milk. b/c it can be strong to your stomach.

if ibuprofen alone doesn't do any good. it is ok to take it with tylenol. if it is still not working, call up your dentist. there might be an after hour help line.

and you have to go check with your dentist on monday!
Reply:Rub some strong alcohol on it..
Reply:ORTHODONTIST
Reply:I can relate....went through hell and back. So I'll tell you the only thing that will help...go to any drug store or Walmart and ask for IB-Profin. It comes under many brands and it works....30 minutes after taking IB-Profin you will feel relief. Hang in there :)
Reply:swish vodka (from freezer or on rocks) around mouth. Drink and repeat until pain is gone!
Reply:go to ne health food store and ask for sumthing called clove oil. it tastes kinda like black licorice, and it will burn a lil bit, but u just put it on a q-tip and rub it on ur tooth, and it works.
Reply:oil of clove, powdered clove or a whole clove(baking section of food store)
Reply:dissolve an aspirin (or other) in a little water.. (make a paste, and put it on the area).. it'll work for a minute or two.........but honey.. you are GONNA HAVE to go to the dentist..............
Reply:i've heard of breaking an aspirin in half and placing a piece right on the painful area. it dissolves and numbs the area. tasted nasty, but worth a try.
Reply:do you have a dentist you go to regularly? you can call him/her and they will come in for emergencies. if you are not a patient of record somewhere, you may have trouble finding a doc to come in on the weekend. you can go to the ER, and they could possibly prescribe pain meds for you if its to terrible to wait for monday. the spreading of the aspirin on your gum works the same as if you swallow it, only a little bit faster relief. don't do this too much, or you may irritate your gums, getting an "aspirin burn".
Reply:you can take four ibueprofen and wash you mouth out completely clean with salt water! just had that problem!!!
