Please help! I had a toothache, was x-rayed, no decay, said tooth was cracked, had a crown done.?

A temp crown was put on until permanent crown came in. I had alot of pain with the temp crown, so i told the dentist and they x-rayed again and still saw no decay. They said the temp crown was probably too high (it was) and when i slept in was probably grinding and pushing on temp so it was bruising the ligament, thus causing pain. So they put the permanent crown on Thursday and put me on antibiotics and pain pills (the pain pills made me nauseous) so I stopped taking them. I had no pain the day after until today and all of a sudden I'm getting the same toothache pain as in the very beginning. I am freaking out. Why am I in pain if the tooth is not decayed? If I take advil the pain goes away pretty quick, but I can't go on like this. I just can't understand why the tooth hurts if it's not decayed. Could there be another reason? I should've had a root canal but The dentist did'nt see any decay so I guess he did'nt think it was necessary. What is wrong and what should I do? Thanx so much

If the pain continues, see your dentist, or another dentist for a second opinion.

If there is no decay, the crown may be out of place and putting pressure on your jaw - that would cause a lot of pain.

I had crowns done a few years ago, and the discomfort can last a while. One crown is still sensitive when I clench my teeth or brush, even. I use Crest Sensitivity toothpaste, which helps.

Your tooth has been battered and bruised with all that it's been through; so have your ligaments and bones. They may just need some time to heal. I hope that's all it is.
Reply:you either need the tooth pulled or a root canal, the tooth is probably cracked all the way to the nerve and if so the crown wont help, i am surprised the dentist didnt suggest this when he first crowned it
