I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a really bad toothache. I know the tooth has got a big cavity in it because I can see it.
But I don't have a dentist, so I don't know what to do and I'm also absolutely terrified of dentists as well. Is there anything I can do other than seeing a dentist to help?
I haven't been in 14 years because of a bad experience and I really am terrified of dentists. The thought of going gives me a panic attack. But my tooth really hurts, what can I do to help the pain? I've taken 800mg of ibuprofen, but it still hurts.
Terrible toothache?
You really need to see a dentist about it. If you are really that scared just talk to the receptionist and tell her how you feel about trips to the dentist. You can also relay this info to the dentist him/herself when you get there. Dentists for the most part are very freindly people and when doing a procedure such as filling a cavity (or maybe pulling the tooth) they are very careful that you are as comfortable as possible. You probably won't feel anything but you'll hear some pretty weird sounds such as drilling. All you need to do for this is bring your IPOD or other music playing device and crank that ***** up! The dentist isn't going to mind as long as the wires from the headphones don't get in the way.
Also most dentist offices let you pay so much per month until you're all paid off. Just make sure to be on the safe side but most offices won't mind as long as they are getting SOMETHING every month from you.
Reply:well u have 2 see a dentist...and its different now not like the last time u have been there (14 years)..he will give u anesthetic. and u wont feel somethin.and u have 2 do it fast coz it may swollen then it will be a surgical case
Reply:don't afraid dentist will help you. but if you really don't want to go there take strong medicine which will delete a sickness. if i were you i will go to the dentist.
Reply:IF you don't go back to sort the problem out IMMEDIATELY with a DENTIST, you risk infecting your ears, nose, and throat as well as your heart - it will be more painful, more expensive... and much more frightening.
Reply:You can call around. Some dentists offer laughing gas to put you to sleep, instead of a painful injection. You may have to have a rootcanal. That is more painful and expensive than a cavity. I would get it checked out right away. Ask friends or family for the name of their dentist.
Reply:tooth pain is the worse physical pain you will ever experience if you let it go too long it will get infected and become abscess this can kill you. so be brave my friend find a dr. that works on a curve or takes payments and get it pulled. sorry for your pain well agony,
Reply:First of all your going to have to see a dentist. And the person up there is right. Times have changed. They have a very fast acting anesthetic and you wont feel a thing. Aso for right this second you can use some clove oil to kill the pain. They even make a "gum" which is actually a wax that contains clove oil which will also create a seal so air wont further irritate the exposed root. You can get both at your local pharmacy.
Reply:I think you know you need to see a dentist. The issue is getting you there.
Do you have a friend/relative who can drive you and stay with you during the procedure? That may help some of the anxiety.
Perhaps your primary care doctor would be willing to give you a few pills of Valium to help ease your anxiety further. It can't hurt to ask.
You may also want to check for a dentist who works with people with dementia. Those dentist are used to helping very anxious people and are good at putting nervous people at ease.
I hope you get this taken care of soon. Good luck.
Reply:Hello, I'm a leader of an international dental network. I've just read your question by luck. You should buy a piece of rosemary, chop it into small parts and put it into the cavity - so that you can take it out later. After two hours you have to change it for a new one. Of course this is an alternative way, the best would be to contact a dentist. I promise there won't be any pain we are very famous about our painless methods! I hope you get lost of the pain.
Reply:along with ibuprofen take capsules containing amoxicillin[500mg] twice a day take Ibuprofen thrice a day. take warm saline gargles thrice a day.AND PLEASE SEE A DENTIST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.I agree you had a bad experience but not all dentists are same.A dentist is the only person who can provide you with permanent relief. Also prolonged self medication can be hazardous to your helth plus the decayed teeth if not treated properly may weaken its adjacent teeth also.
Reply:get a dentist!!! i had 5 1/2 teeth pulled 2 months ago and there was soooooooo much major discomfort but now it doesn't hurt at all and i have braces. i still am afraid of dentists but all the pain and discomfort is way worth it.

Intermittent Toothache - How Is This Possible ?
I have toothache which comes and goes.
Are there any dental experts who can explain why or how exactly it should be itermittent ?
I get rid of the pain by taking 500mg codamol pain killers perhaps twice a day.
Intermittent Toothache - How Is This Possible ?
It is very difficult to answer the question without more information.
1. Which tooth/area of your mouth? Does the tooth have a filling in it? If yes, what kind of filling (metal or composite)?
2. How old are you?
3. What kind of pain ie dull ache or sharp pain?
4. What do you mean by 'comes and goes'? ie how often do you get the pain (daily, weekly, monthly) %26amp; how long does it last (difficult to answer probably if you are using painkillers)
Reply:i get this if im grinding my teeth in my sleep. i have a wobbly tooth. just need to readjust it and im fine the next day. sleep with your mouth open ( no pressure on your teeth )
Reply:Its a filling or cavity that is starting to expose the root. You will have to get a root canal or have the tooth removed or refilled.
If you are chicken of the dentist, make a paste by disolving a few aspirins with water, put the paste right on the tooth and let it sit there. It will kill the root for good.
Reply:Loose tooth, eroded enamel or gums or it could be whatever you are eating or drinking.
Whatever it is you need to see a dentist ASAP. Taking all that codeine twice a day is not advisable.
Reply:My daughter had this problem with a tooth which had been filled. She was in considerable pain on and off for a year. The dentist said it was because she ground her teeth in her sleep. (which as it turns out was not correct.) She was in so much pain when she was on holiday in Spain that she went to a Spanish dentist who took an X ray. The X ray showed that the filling was pressing down on the nerve and that there was an infection in the root of the tooth. The dentist removed the filling and allowed the tooth to drain. The tooth was re-filled after about 14 days. No problems since.

Toothaches are a sign that there may be more to worry about then just a little pain. The causes of toothache are several but the major causes are, dental cavity, a cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. It is possible for the cause of a toothache to originate from an entirely different problem such as heart attack or angina but this is quite rare. It can be noted however that some patients suffering angina will show toothache or jaw pain as the only symptoms so it is always best to let your dentist or doctor evaluate you.

Great toothache home remedies?
I have sensitive teeth and get a toothache. What are some good home remedies? Meaning, no over the counter medicines?
Great toothache home remedies?
An ice pack is good
Clove oil, also called eugenol is better, (the local drugstore sells it) is good too. The two together is even better.
Cloves will dull or even eliminate the pain. Clove oil is also a good disinfective.
Also xylocaine hydrochloride, is a good painkiller. It is sold, as a cream, in the tube at drugstores. That chemical is the one dentists use to freeze gums. You can buy it in solutions of up to at least 5%, at the pharmacy. Make sure that the cream can be placed in your mouth. (some preparations are only for external, topical use, only.)
Orajel is a similar product with a lower % of xylocaine. It is used to numb the pain of teething infants. It Is designed to be used in the mouth, on the infant's gums.
But definitely see a dentist, soon. Something is causing the pain in your tooth. (the most common causes are bacteria in a cavity that produce gas as a waste product. The gas can press upon the tooth's nerve pulp to cause the pain. The process of dental filling of tooth cavities kills the bacteria as part of the treatment.
Neglected tooth problems, including decay, can develope into gum and jaw bone infections, called abscesses that are very painful. Abscesses require major dental work to clean up. (often including surgery.)
Neglected abscesses, neglected for a long time, can develop into life threatening infection of the sinuses and skull bone tissue that is very close to the brain.
A century ago and earlier, tooth problems with abscesses were a significant cause of death.
I am not trying to frighten you. I write this information out of asense of concern, for you and others. (we are all on life's train Together.)
Generally, sensitive teeth should be investigated too. This problem often comes with aging (although not always). Stannous fluoride applications, by a dentist, often help. (there are other treatments including the more drastic gum surgery for really serious cases). and, also, modified tooth brushing methods. etc.
Incidentally, if you are afraid of the dentists office, join the club. So am I.
A caring dentist can use laugfhing gas (nitrous oxide to relieve the pain and anxiety). Don't be shy. Tell him of your concerns. It is very common problem. It is also not a sign of cowardness.
I was in special forces years backand have suffered severe injuries with fortitude and rarely morphine, but I still get nervous in a dentist's office.
People with severe fear of dentists can go to dentists who will do all their dental procedures under general anesthesia! It cost smore money but it is worth it if that is the only way you will tolerate dental work.
I do not suggest that you have any such fears. I
am writing this information for the your use and that of other readers.
Also, for those people who have money problems paying for dental work, there are ways to cut the costs significantly.
Local dental schools have dental clinics where serious seniour students get practice doing dental work. They are almost always very good and up to date in the science and art of dentistry. Also, they can take their time to do a superb job. (they are not paying for their nurses, nor their office and equipment!). Also, they are carefully scrutinized by highly qualified and experienced instructors who keep an eye on them and their dental work. (the work is often even graded!0
Again please take my advice and get to a dentist as soon as you can.
Good luck

Cat toothache?
I think my 13 year old cat has a toothache. I have an appointment with the vet at 3:30 pm. Is there anything I can do to make the cat more comfortable till then ?
Cat toothache?
unfortunately there is nothing that you can give over the counter. all OTC human pain meds are very dangerous for cats. just make sure to feed soft food until you see the vet. if your cat will tolerate it you can warm a damp towel in the microwave to make a warm compress (make sure it isnt too hot - nothing you wouldnt put on your own face) and see if he will let you hold it there. that may help relieve the pain just a little - at least give him a little more relief. good luck and hope he feels better soon
Reply:There is not too much you can do besides removing all crunchy food. If it is a toothache, the vet will probably give you a pain med. until they can do a surgery to remove the tooth.
Reply:Not really.
You must never give a kitty aspirin as a pain reliever, causes gastro bleeding.
Just give lots of attention, scratches under chin till vet appt.
Good lck.
Reply:For starters ask your vet (when they open today) if you need to stop giving kitty food and water so many hours before the visit (in case they want to pull the tooth out). An empty tummy is safer when you are put under (in case you vomit).
Also ask the vet if you can apply a TINY amount of baby oral-gel (oragel?) to the cat's gums/tooth that might be hurting kitty. Oragel is just a numbing agent, but always ask the vet first since it can also numb the throat and swallow reflex for a short span. I mean it's safe for infants who are teething, but you never know since it's a cat and not a human.
Holding kitty and petting her softly while holding a warm cloth against the side of her face might feel good to you if she will let you do it. Just make sure it's warm, and not hot enough to burn or annoy her. I personally think cold cloths make a toothache worse, but some people prefer a cold compress to a heated one for toothaches.
Mostly let kitty sleep if she can, just turn the lights low, keep sound down low, and don't let anyone disturb kitty if she's asleep. If she's a cuddle cat then cuddle her, otherwise leave her be because trying to hold her, or hold a compress to her cheek / mouth will only upset kitty and stress kitty out more (which can worsen pain).
Hope your kitty pulls through fine and that she's not in any serious pain. Ask your vet about how to baby her for pain and eating if it's her tooth. At 13 I wouldn't think they would put her under to remove a tooth (because at that old of an age her heart could give out).. Ask your vet how they do it if they do want to remove the tooth. That would really suck to be awake and have a tooth yanked out without a numbing shot %26gt;.%26lt;
You can also try to gently GENTLY massage the area that you think hurts her. If she likes it she'll let you continue, if it makes it hurt more then she will try to avoid the massaging (just rub with a firm but very gentle pressure).
Good luck sweety, and huggle your kitty for me.

Any toothache?
Any one with toothache out there?Got it bad and no-where open.
Any toothache?
I've been hollered at by the specialists for even mentioning this, but when you're in horrible pain, it does help relieve it. The reason not to use it is that aspirin can burn your gums. I'll leave this up to you, but what I have done in emergency pain cases, is put aspirin directly on the tooth that is aching. Apply another if one does not relieve the pain. The aspirin will go directly to the nerve and stop that horrible throbbing. Even being hollered at by the dentist team, I would still do it if I was in horrible pain. Good luck and see a dentist as soon as you can.

Painful Toothache...?
OK i have got really painfull toothache right now. its 3.15am so i cant go to the dentist. and i dont have any cloves!
Can Anybody Help?!
Painful Toothache...?
Try taking 800mg of ibuprofen along with Tylenol PM. Well before bed rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide and if you have it, afterwards hold a bit of Camphophenique over the painful area. Orajel PM might help as well. It is thicker and designed to stay where you put it while you sleep.
You can also try rinsing with warm salt water. If there is an abscess, this might cause it to burst and will relieve the pain until you can see a dentist. Good luck.
Reply:use pain-killers such as Tylenol?
Reply:Ibuprofen will help. Get to the dentist tomorrow if you can. I am dealing with the same exact thing. I think I have a leaky filling. Ugh. Sorry.
Reply:ICE ICE ICE!!! and lots of IB Profen.
Also, if is is super bad go to the emergency room. they can at least give you some vicadin :)
Reply:Go get yourself some oragel, or ice it.
Reply:try eating somthing or cover it and why are you up at 3:15 any way
Reply:If you're over 21, then go to the store %26amp; get some whiskey. You don't drink it though. What you do is swig it like mouth wash. It will work as an anesthetic. My late husband used to do this all the time %26amp; he swore by it.
Also, you can take pain relievers such as Tylenol. You could try anbesol, but I don't think it'll work on anything but numbing your gums.
Reply:Yes, There is a good chance that cool or cold water will help stop the pain. I have had this at least twice in the past when I had an awful toothache and it stopped the pain completely.
The cause of my pain was that the nerve was dieing and gave off gas in the sealed chamber of the pulp. The cold water lowered the temp and the pressure and the pain was gone as long as I kept using first cool tap water then ice water. Hope this works.
There is another possible cause for the pain. If the tooth is not hitting the other opposite tooth properly, it can cause the tooth to hurt because it is being rocked in the gum. I lost one tooth for this malocclusion.
Reply:Sounds like an abscess...You need antibiotics...but you have none...all you can do is what has already been suggested...I did the ice thing and Advils about 800MG to get me through.
Good Luck with that ... I know what a nightmare that can be!

Good luck.

What toothache medication can kidney patients take??? Please help!!! Pain is killing me!!!1?
ambesol or other topical toothache medicine... and you can try gently swishing warm salt water in your mouth
Reply:Get some clove oil and apply this to your tooth. Clove is not toxic and you don't have to worry about your kidney using it. Hope this helps
Reply:Tylenol
Reply:my husband has a kidney transplant, for about 10 years now, he takes vicodin, Tylenol you CAN NOT take any nsaid like Advil
The widespread use of NSAIDs has meant that the adverse effects of these relatively safe drugs have become increasingly prevalent. The two main adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with NSAIDs relate to gastrointestinal (GI) effects and renal effects of the agents.
Reply:please do not take any medications without consulting a physician first.
call the local phone a nurse or off hours urgent care/er..
they can consult with a physician to give you advice.
other medications can seriously harm your kidney as well as other functions..or possibly interfere with your other meds.
call asap...and use cool compresses to your oral area until you have an answer.
Reply:Put some toothpaste on it. Use a fluoride rinse. It takes a few days though.
Reply:This is gonna sound crazy BUT IT WORKS!! Get some peppermint extract, the kind you bake with, and some qtips...dip the qtip in the peppermint extract and put it on your tooth....it will feel SO SO SO much better, and it's cheap.
Try it at least!!!

Horrible toothache!!?
I have a bad toothache that starts whenever I eat or drink something cold. Or if I eat anything sweet as well. It lasts for hours. It hurts so bad Im starting to get a headache! I have a dentist appointment in 3 days, anything that can help with the pain til my appoinment?
Horrible toothache!!?
I had a toothache 2 weekends ago and it was 3 days before I could see a dentist. I took Excedrin every 6 hours and rubbed Anbesol Maximum Strength on it to numb the pain. It worked well, but I had an abscessed tooth and now require a root canal, so it's good you're having it checked out.
Reply:trting taking advil it helps me out when i have a tootache from my braces
Reply:Get an oral anasthetic, like Oragel, and apply it whenever you have pain. It feels weird, like a numbness. Don't overuse it, or you will start drooling. Also, any kind of pain reliever can help in general.
Reply:swish warm water mixed with peroxide around in your mouth, then spit it out. This helps to clear out any pus or anything building up in or around the tooth and will help it feel a little better.do it once or twice an hour, several times a day.
Reply:Orajel. When you have a toothache you aren't suppose to eat anything sweet or cold it can't irritate it because of the nerve.
Reply:ibupropin
Reply:Good. Your seeing the dentist.
I would try and stay away from that stuff if it hurts that bad...
Reply:Oragel or "swish" with some brandy or whiskey to numb the pain (in the evening). My mom recommended that to me and it did the trick until I made it to the dentist office.
Reply:Toothaches are painful but can be prevented
by take suitable precautions. Avoid eating
food which will result in the formation of acid
in the mouth, brush teeth regularly with a fluoride
toothpaste. I found the information at

Painful Toothache?
I have a very bad toothache. It hurt so bad it throbs. It's the teeth in the back of my mouth and It's got a black hole in it. and one side has chipped off all the way down to my gum. Will the dentist have any problem pulling this tooth? I go see the dentist August 21
Painful Toothache?
Try calling the dental office and resheduling appointment for sooner because you're in pain. It can get much worse, and it can become life-threatening. You have an infection going on 4 inches away from your brain. That's not a joke.
Dentist can remove any tooth in any condition. Cost may vary depending on the difficulty of the procedure.
If it is your permanent tooth (2nd set) you might want to ask your dentists about possibilities of repairing it. Once it's out, it's forever.
Reply:Firstly, do you not see a dentist 2xyear, and why not?
Secondly, he/she may not be able to save it
3rdly, if you do not have a bridge made where that tooth was (because by the sound of it, it looks like it is a gonner, and will have to be pulled) the opposing tooth will be lost in the years to come, as will the two beside it. Teeth are dynamic -- that means that they move throughout your entire life. If one wears braces, for example, and does not continue to wear a retainer, in 10 or 20 or more years, they will go back to where they were. Sorry for you. You only get one set of secondary teeth.... you should change your thinking and take care of them....
Reply:It may not be the easiest tooth to take out, but it can be done.
Reply:yes, it can be pulled. It may have to be done by an oral surgeon which may cost a little more. I had a couple in the back pulled several years ago and the surrounding teeth are fine. In fact I go on the 22nd to get another pulled on the other side. I've heard people say that if you put and asprin on the tooth and let it disolve it will ease the pain. That sounds like torture to me, so I've never tried it. Don't worry about those who say you haven't taken proper care of your teeth. They just don't understand poor genetics and circumstance. Good luck and take care.

my mom has a horrible toothache. whats something she can do to ease the pain? shes taken tylenol already, but no relief. she cant fall asleep because it hurts so bad.
Bad toothache?
Home remedies for Toothache relief are in such abundance that we will only mention a few of the more popular remedies. But before we do, it should be mentioned that Toothache relief means that these home remedies are only for temporary relief of pain until you can get to your dentist for a more permanent fix.
The bark of a butternut tree was used by the Native Indian for Toothache relief. Make sure to clean off all the ants and termites before applying to gums and it might also be a good idea to ask your dentist before using this method.
Apple juice, figs and raisin, supposedly you grind them all up in a blender for a scrumptious drink. Oops, sorry this is for constipation.
Saltwater mouthwash
A gentle massage on the gums is believed to be helpful because the nerves can only carry one sensation at a time. Wash hand first before massaging.
Cloves
Ground pepper
Coke syrup; don’t know where you’re going to get this at.
Taking one or two aspirin every three or four hours should relieve the pain. But you shouldn’t put aspirin directly on your gums because you might get aspirin burns and not only that but it taste awful.
And last but certainly not least whiskey on the gums is said to be good for Toothache relief for teething babies and for adult. For adults however, swallowing is optional.
Reply:If your mother is in good health, (other than the tooth ache) go buy her some ALEVE aspirin, take two and the pain will go away, works better than Tylenol helped me when i got my teeth knocked out in a car accident!!!
PS she can also try rinsing her mouth out with warm water and Listerine several times...
Reply:drink a bit of booze...rum or whiskey
it will kinda numb the tooth
Reply:use an ice bag over the area - the ice bag can also eat up 2 points of a violation
Reply:thats is some of the worse pain that someone can have. sounds like an abcess in the tooth. other than pain medcation she could try a warm heating pad ( not hot ) warmth sometimes equals comfort. definitly try the warm mouth rinse and maybe some ambesol or other over the counter topical oral pain reliever until she can make it to the dentist.
Reply:First of all have her brush her teeth because there could be a particle of food caught in there. Then have her rinse her mouth out with the very warmest salted water she can stand. Then apply a hot water bottle or hot pack of some kind...heating pad; and if she can lay with her face on the heat that little bit of pressure will help to ease the pain. I've done this many times and it always works. I'll pray for her pain to be eased. I know she can't wait to get to the dentist in the morning.
Reply:What she needs to do is get that exposed root taken care of. All the pills in the world is not going to help this nerve. Good thing is it will die on it's own. If that is it is only a tooth ache. My mouth hurts with the onset of a migraine headache.
Have her gargle, and floss her teeth. Maybe there is something there that is pressed against that nerve ending? She might just have to wait for it to die on it's own. Painful I know!!
Wish your mother well...have her go see the dentist.

It can be noted however that some patients suffering angina will show toothache or jaw pain as the only symptoms so it is always best to let your dentist or doctor evaluate you.

im 38 weeks pregnant and have a horrible toothache. Now since im pregnant the only medicine i can take is tylenol im drooling and everything and tylenol is not working. anything else i can do or take. im dying over here . help me
Horrible toothache?
A fresh garlic clove contains Allicin, a substance that garlic releases once it is crushed. Interestingly, Allicin has the property of reducing pain. But it is important to remember than when using fresh garlic cloves as a home remedy for toothache, the garlic is not left on the tissue of the gums for too long as this may cause burning.
To kill the infection of the tooth and the sored area, many toothache sufferers employ the use of hydrogen peroxide in rinsing their mouth. Th same principle applies, allow the hydrogen peroxide solution sink into the tooth before you spit it out.
Vanilla extracts also work wonders as a home remedy for toothache. But, a source says that almond extracts works better for it contains 2% more alcohol against the 35% alcohol content of the vanilla extract. This works by dipping a ball of cotton in the extract soon afterward placing it on top of the affected tooth.
On the other hand, many toothache sufferers use clove oil as a form of home remedy for toothache devised specifically to reduce the pain. It is important to note that in using oil and other herbal extracts, the affected area is first cleanse before a cotton ball soaked in the solution is packed into the tooth.
Meanwhile for the simplest home remedy for acne, many instinctively place ice bags nearest the area of pain. This obviously has no therapeutic effects but this numbs the affected muscle, and in some cases the gums, against aching. Also, this home remedy for acne may not taste good for most but may work for you too. Place a boiled teabag on the aching tooth for several minutes and an improvement on the toothache will be felt after the process.
Please be reminded that all these home remedies may only provide temporary treatment for toothache. Once the pain subsides, it is best to consult your tooth to the dentist to be given proper dental assistance.
Reply:Hit yourself in the head with a hammer. It will help you forget the throbbing pain in your jaw.
Reply:Go to urgent care to get this checked out and get something stronger that is safe when pregnant.
Reply:This tends to happen when we are pregnant. There is not much you can to just make sure you have brushed and rinse well. If it gets to bad see a dentist some times they can figure out what to do for you until you have the baby and can have your tooth worked on.
Reply:There is one totally logical thing to do, GO TO THE DENTIST!
Hope this helps!
Reply:try cloves if you have some in the cupboard, empty a tea bag and put some clove powder in the bag then place on gums around tooth ache
Reply:Oh dear.
I've heard Oil of Cloves is supposed to help with toothaches, but I don't know if that's a good idea with a baby on the way. Schedule a visit to the dentist ASAP: He should be better able to make recommendations and to fix the problem tooth.
Good luck!

Bad Toothache Relief ?
I've had this toothache for a while now. . And i've tried gels, sprays, pills, and other things. . . But so far, it only gets worst. It's not a gum pain, this is a deep root pain. I already have a dentist appointment. . . But i don't know what to do until then. Any ways to ease the pain ?
Bad Toothache Relief ?
Two things,
Aspirin....suck on it, in moderation by the tooth.
the other one is combine cider vinegar into apple juice, about half and half with ice.
=================
Reply:It may be an infection. Call your dentist and tell him/her about the severity of the pain and se if you can get an earlier appointment.
Reply:Tell the doctor you can't sleep! He will get you in sooner.
Reply:Over the counter ADVIL or MOTRIN or even Tylenol.
Try ice pack on the cheek over the area.
When I had a toothache in the past, I used warm salt water rinses and that helped too.
Reply:It sounds like an abscess. I know what you are going through because I had severe pain such as this a few years back. The only (temporary) relief I can suggest is take some ibuprofen.. or maybe use a hot washcloth. Yes, gels such as Orajel do not work.. that stuff sucks! Hang in there sweetie : )
Reply:In the "old" days we used pure clove oil. They still sell this at the drug store. Just ask the pharmacist. You soak a tiny piece of a cotton ball with it and place it on your aching tooth.
It really does help to deaden the pain!
You should also call the dentist ASAP so you can get in sooner or get a prescription for pain relief until your appointment. Toothaches are nasty! Good Luck!
Reply:You should be telling your dentist this.
They will squeeze you in immediately if you are in pain.
I got caught like that once on a Friday and of course dentists don't do weekends. My GP gave me percodan for the weekend until I could get to the dentist.
Well!! that absolutely worked and wow, what a ride. I was going upstairs to bed and my brain knew that I had to make a right hand turn, unfortunately my body walked straight into the wall.
Worked great, highly addictive.
Reply:RINSE YOUR MOUTH WITH 1 SPOON GINGELLY OIL+1 SPOON WATER FOR 10 MINUTES. DO THIS AFTER YOUR MEALS. DONT WASH WITH WATER AFTER RINSING. I HAVE CANCELLED MY DENTIST APPOINTMENT AFTER THIS TREATMENT.
Reply:by pills you mean normal ibuprofen pain relievers or paracetamols? If you're already taking ibuprofen ( advil ) and still have the pain, then i guess you have to visit your dentist ASAP! You might need a root canal treatment ( uhhh hate it! ) , he could help you open and clean the tooth, and maybe release the pressure or abcess , bu leaving it open and putting some eugenol in..
Bad Toothache Relief ?
Two things,
Aspirin....suck on it, in moderation by the tooth.
the other one is combine cider vinegar into apple juice, about half and half with ice.
=================
Bad toothache! Remedy??
I have been to the dentist, he said the pain is being caused by my wisdom teeth moving about, but they won't be through for another 2 years.. Anyway, I have had dreadful toothache for 3 days now and been unable to sleep. I've tried pain killers, cloves, salt water but nothing is helping. :(!
Bad toothache! Remedy??
you poor thing!
Over the counter pain relievers, especially those with anti inflammitory properties, such as ibuprophen, taken at the maximum allowable dose for you .(depending on age and weight). Most adults can safely take 400mg total ibuprophen every 6 hours.
Seek a second opinion. Most oral surgeons will remove them long before they are ready to come through. Unless of course, the wisdom teeth are not yet fully developed. Some dentist will not remove wisdom teeth if the root on it is not fully developed.
I would definately get a second opinion on removal if they are hurting you.
feel better soon!
Reply:Clove oil on cotton wool, pushed down on it. Or some neat whisky washed round the area. It hurts I know, feel better soon x
Reply:there are toothache swabs available at any grocery or drug store they are called zilactin they only work temporarily but they work wonders for me and my boyfriend. also try ambesol or pure vanilla extract on the gums liberally.
Reply:heres the best way ever to relieve pain in your teeth.. i do it often... this only works if you have filings, but the best thing to do is to chew tin foil over the filling... (it is the best feeling..) it is amazing and it really works... (thanks for the points!)
Reply:Well for now you can buy some tooth pain relief for temporary pain relief till you can get in to see a dentist.
Reply:i am having the same problems but if you put some num stuff on your tooth it might go away.
Reply:You can always use alcohol to numb the pain which is an old remedy. Or buy some medicine from your pharmacy for toothaches
Reply:check the other questions asked, this was asked about two hours ago!
Reply:I feel your pain. I've had 2 impacted wisdom teeth for a few years now. There is no room for them come in so they're just cramped in there...sometimes causing a shooting pain in my jaw that hurts like a mutha. I've been to the dentist and of course I'm told to get them taken out. BUT, finding the time (for the surgery and recovery) is a joke. Anyway, sometimes I rub orajel on the gums (it temporarily numbs the area). It's not a cure-all remedy but it soothes the pain for awhile. Other than that, I take Aleve or Motrin. Good luck and hang in there! Get those things yanked if you have to. You'll thank yourself later.
Reply:well the remedy is to drink water and swoosh it around where it hurts. then spit the water out the pain will kinda fill better a little. another way is to not think about the pain cause if u dont think about it then u wont fill it because you are more focused about something else than you kinda forget about the pain. it works for a long time as long as you dont touch the pain spot
Reply:ginger flavor brandy, place on Q-tip then area that is bothering you! Or take a 1 teaspoon leave in mouth for 1 minute the spit out!
Reply:definatly clove oil, should be in every medicine cabinett. It is very potent.
Reply:Propolis drops, on cotton wool
Or, when my wisdom teeth were comming out, I used gingival gel for babies and it helped a lot.
Good luck!

A great natural toothache remedy is to either ground clove or pure food grade clove oil on the affected tooth. This is the most well known of all herbal toothache remedies. Good luck!

Reply:take boiled water with some salt in it and rinse it 8 to 10 time you will feel better
Reply:Toothaches are painful but can be prevented

food which will result in the formation of acid

Badddddd toothache?
sounds like an infection
ring your local dentist or if you dont have one call nhs direct on 08454647 and they can put you in touch with one
Reply:get to the dentist or goto the emergency dentist at the hospital
Reply:Go to the dentist. If you have an infection in your mouth, he will be the only one able to diagnose it properly.
Reply:I had really painful wisdom teeth and found the only thing that was strong enough to take the pain away was codeine or paracetamol and codiene which you can by over the counter
Reply:I wonder if it's actually toothache? It sounds a lot like you have swollen glands, which are very painful. Try a painkiller like ibuprofen which helps with inflammation and try and see a doctor you made need antibiotics.
Reply:How do you spell dentist? Hon, you need to get to your dentist IMMEDIATELY. You may need a root canal done. you can't mess with your teeth - infections are dangerous!
Reply:from all the other emails you know you need to go to the destist. In the mean time - gargle with salt water, doesn't sound like much but trust me it works. Either way it can't hurt.
Reply:I had a simmilar event happen to me the dentist said the cold virus was in the soft tissues and sinuses in my face , he gave me antibiotics and it cleared up.
Reply:It's probably just the flu. Brush a lot and take an aspirin.

Horrible Toothache......?
I have had a horrible toothache, it has sharp pains %26amp; when another tooth hits this tooth it sends a stinging sensation thru my mouth. It done like this 2-3 mths ago %26amp; now it's back so I don't know what it could be. I'm guessing my wisdom teeth are coming in little by little %26amp; it's hurting. It is the very last tooth on the left side. It's causing me not to be able to sleep but I certainly don't want to have my wisdom teeth removed this close to Christmas or I won't get to enjoy Christmas. Any suggestions on what to do until AFTER the holidays? This may be something that carries on a week or so like it did the first time %26amp; it stopped so I dunno if it's my wisdom tooth coming in %26amp; pushing all my other teeth or an abcess or what, PLEASE HELP %26amp; Thanks!!!
Horrible Toothache......?
take combiflam tablet after dinner for 2 days if pain still there after 2 days go to doctor..he will do something to the nerve attached to the wisdom tooth......i underwent all this
Reply:if you have tooth pain its infected get some antibiotics and that shoud get you through hollidays
Reply:See your dentist or suffer, perhaps you like suffering pain, on second thoughts go see a psychiatrist.
Reply:TAKE SOME IBUPROFEN THAT SHOULD TAKE THE PAIN AWAY FOR A WHILE
Reply:Go to the dentist, then you know for sure what the problem is, and if you have to have something done he can give you something to help you get through the holidays til you can have the work done.
If not, get some ambesol, ibuprofen for the pain, rinse with warm salt water or peroxide diluted with water in case it's infected.
Also clove oil is numbing, so I have put cloves in my mouth and gently bit them when I've had toothaches and it helps. Also there are natural toothpastes that have clove in them that you can apply like ambesol.
Toothaches suck, good luck :(
edited to add: Actually if it's infected the doctor won't do anything right away, he'd put you on antibiotics for about a week or so first. So you might be suffering for nothing. Just go.
Reply:I had the same problem until the last month my wisdom teeth have appeared. The pain is common and there is no other way then to bear the Paine.Press a clove between the paining teeth it will give a temporarily relief.
Reply:If you see your dentist, if he is able to see you , on an emergency basis, you may save yourself a lot of needless worry and concern. He may even be able to treat you immediately and eliminate all the concerns that are making you anxious.Remember there are always more holidays next year and you don't want to be in the same boat then again. Worst toothache ever!?
does any one no how too get rid of a toothache
it kills
aint got dentist till tommorow
and i dont think i will live till then
feels like someone is pulling a root underneath
arghh :(
Worst toothache ever!?
Ibuprofen, but it takes a few doses to sort of 'build up' so you get the full effect. Call your dentist- If you are a patient on file, they should be able to call you in a prescription painkiller so you can make it until tomorrow.
Reply:Your dentist should have someone on call who can see you on an emergency basis. Barring that, get to the ER.
Reply:gargle with salt
Reply:Take some aspirin .. maybe try Oragel .. they have products for toothaches.
Reply:4 Ibuprofin and orajel.Hope morning comes for you soon.
Reply:they say ibuprophen works best for tooth aches but take like 3 or like a higher dosage... ummm maybe gargling with salt water will work.. umm you can go to the store and see if they have some of that numbing stuff.. they even have stuff like tooth ache relieve that you jus rub all over the tooth. go check at like walgreens. Ive had many tooth aches lol... im sure it hurts. feel better though.. and at least you know it will be all better tomorrow :)
Reply:yep. ibuprofen is the best for tooth pain. orajel works too. some pharmacys also sell eugenol specific for toothaches. you can apply it directly into the cavity is the best. Antibiotics from the ER if possible.
Reply:If you have some penicillin take that. You can also (or) take 800 Mg's of ibuprofen (over the counter ibuprofen usually comes in 200 mg doses, you would want to take 4 of those). Remember that taking more that 800Mg's of ibuprofen at a time doesn't do any good and it can do some harm. You can take 800Mg's 4 times a day.
DON"T MIX ASPIRIN AND IBUPROFEN!!!
Reply:Take Ibuprofen or tylenol. Sounds like a root canal oh boy...

Bad Toothache???
I have a major toothache. it is worst during the night. what can i take for it. i just started a new job and i would not be able to get dental insurance for the next two months and to go to a dentist is so much money and as i said i just started working so i can't really afford to see a dentist at this moment. my tooth broke and i never check on it and i think it has decaded really bad.........so what should i do, i tried pain killers, home remedies but nothing seems to work any more.............help!!!!!!!!!!
Bad Toothache???
I know you are not going to like this answer, but as a practicing dentist (DMD) you are going to need to see your regualr dentist or take a visit to your local emergency room. You may have an infection, or abscessed tooth which is not only extremely painful, but also very life threatening. Your are going to need to be prescribed an antibiotic as this infection will NOT go away on its own. Your best bet is to call a dentist to schedule an emergency appointment, your dentist will be able to prescribe you an antibiotic and pain medication and this will save you from a costly visit to your ER as you will only end up needing to be seen by a dentist anyway. An infected tooth (abscess) is a very serious problem that only your dentist will be able to treat; if not treated this infection can spread to the throat causing airway obstructions, and can also spread to the heart and brain. Until you can see a dentist or visit your local ER (either one you will need to do because you will need an antibiotic) try using a cold compress on the face closest to the tooth thats bothering you. Also try taking Motrin or Advil, this will not only help with pain but also help with any inflammation or swelling. By all means, PLEASE see a dentist or ER physician as soon as possible. Good luck!
Reply:Find a dental school near you. We have one here in Milwaukee (most states do) that take patients with no insurance and hardly no money at all. 20 bucks maybe.
These are dental students under the watchful eye of their instructors and you would be amazed how well they do and how hard they work.
Good luck.
Reply:Because you have chipped your tooth and not got it checked out there is a good cance you now have an absess (nothing much to worry about) this is because it has got infected due to the chip. Absesses normally do get more painful at night.
You are supposed to go to the dentist as they prescribe some antibiotics for it.......but i didnt go for mine when it came abck 2nd time around and i gave it a week and it went.
Reply:I know it sucks having to put out money when you do not have any but if nothing else is working and it is getting worse you really need to see someone because there is very likely an infection. Many people don't realize it but it can escalate into a life threatening situation if you continue to have it untreated. If you can't find a free clinic to go to then I would at least get a hold of some general antibiotics to take just incase it is an infection.
Reply:call the red cross. they are for helping families in an emergency siuation, I think this would constitute an emergency. an alternative is a dental college.
Reply:You need to go to a qualified dentist ASAP. A lot of dentists have payment plans for people without insurance and will usually work with a patient. Tell them about your financial problem and that your insurance doesn't kick in for a few months. I'm sure they will be willing to work with you. You may have an infection and it could end up being that they would not only be able to fix the tooth but more teeth could be damaged due to infection. Most dentists will tell you to take Advil unless they give you a prescription for something stronger. GO TO THE DENTIST TODAY!!! DON'T WAIT!!!
Reply:Sounds like you are going to have to have a root canal and a crown and I know how it is with no insurance it is expensive.
LIke the previous one try a dental school I know my mom did it for 500.00 all together. With out an RX the only thing I can say to take for the pain is 800 mg of Ibuprofen.

A Toothache With No Other Symptoms of an infection HELP!?
i have a toothache there is no pus or a blister it feels normal except the gum hurts whe i press it and its just got a BIT swollen but it makes my other teeth hurt is this and infection or an abscess?
A Toothache With No Other Symptoms of an infection HELP!?
Infection and abscess are basically the same thing. It sounds like you have an infected tooth. The abscess occurs when the pus finds an outlet where it makes a fistula/hole in the gums where it can drain. This is why the gums are beginning to swell and are sore b/c it is trying to find a place to come out.
Reply:you could have an infection in your gums or your tooth could be aces.Try Gargling with warm salt water for a few minutes and put some orajel on it for the pain.If the pain does not go away you may need to see your dentist so they can check it out and you may need an antibiotic.

Wisdom toothache?
HELP!!! i have had this toothache for 3 days anad it hurts so much. I used orejel, advil, and aleve. I used warm salt water but none of these work anymore. I dont have clove oil and all i can do now is cry. It hurts so much and my cums and part of my cheeks is poofed. Its horrible pain and i dont want to go to the dentist. What can i do to make this stom or less pain. I want to wait for the pain to end then pull it out. Now i cant chew or anything. And it wakes me up in the middle of the night and i cant sleep. It has a cavity, a big one. What can i do besides go to the dentist.
Wisdom toothache?
you really need to go to the dentist.. its probably really infected.. that can cause alot of damage to nerves and stuff if not taken care of.
if its a wisdom tooth. get them taken out.. yeah every one says its horrible..well because it is.. but when u wake up u feel so good.. u dont even no wth is goin on. and they send ya home with lovely pain killers..as long as u take them every so often you wont feel a thing. soo ur pretty outa it till ur better..the only thing that blows is.. the eating part.. but usually all u do is sleep so u wont even notice

Reply:Let me get this straight: You'd rather sit and hurt and have to take medication and do all sorts of other things rather than go to the dentist??? Just go, get the tooth pulled, and you won't have to worry about it any more. The pain is not going to "end," especially as it sounds like you have an abcess, and that's in infection that can potentially harm ALL of you. There's is absolutely no point in waiting for something to change, because it's not going to happen. Call your dentist NOW.
Reply:You HAVE to go see a dentist, that is so someone who is professional and knows what he's doing can tell you what to do, unless a dentist would answer your question here. It doesn't unnecessarily mean if you go to the dentist they will just pull out the aching tooth. Of course they will know what will be the best for you
Reply:Just go to the dentist. There is nothing else you can do.It could lead to a lot of health problems.I waited to long to go and had to have 14 teeth pulled and now have dentures, don't wait.

Strange toothache problem?
I have a severe toothache that came on suddenly a week ago. The teeth are one or two on the upper side and two or three on the lower side (right above and below each other) on my left side. It isn't noticable during the day, just mostly at night while I'm trying to go to sleep (then it flares up into a pain that is unbearable). I sometimes hurts to eat on that side.
Strange toothache problem?
Did you have recent Dental work?
Do you have a cold or sinus problems?
Are your gums OK? any bleeding/inflammation?
Do you grind your teeth at night? If yes, Any unusual stresses in your life recently?
In response to your addendum, most probably you have inflamed gums. Brush and floss before you go to bed. They may bleed when you do that, just rinse with some salt water. It should go away in few days.
Reply:do you possibly grind your teeth at night?=this can cause them to hurt
Reply:Possibly grinding your teeth in your sleep (are you stressed out lately?) Or it may even be due to your sinuses!
Reply:Go to the dentist at once!!!! These could be cavities and they can and will get infected. That will turn it from a cavity into needing root canals andn fillers and all kinds of things you may be able to stave off by taking care of things now. The longer you wait the worse it will be and more it will cost. I put off the dentist for six months and am now facing a $4,000 dental bill for two teeth.
Reply:Check to see if they move slightly and if they do, get to a dentist quick. Sounds like you have Periodontal disease, and that just keeps getting worse and worse until you lose your teeth. The pain really is unbearable, too. Good luck.
Reply:Hi there,
Ill state the obvious - you need to go see your general dentist. Have him/her take a set of periapical and bitewing xrays to check the condition of your teeth and your gums.
Its hard to tell you exactly what your problems may be without an examination and having current xrays. However, from what you described - it may be anything from pulp inflammation from your teeth (needing root canal), an impaction of an unerupted tooth (wisdom teeth perhaps), or some sort of periapical abscess (gum problem).
Overall - its hard to say for sure but this is definitely NOT a sign to be ignored because this will only get worse. Go see your general dentist asap and get the issue taken care. Best of luck.
Reply:Do you wake up in the middle of the night to the pain after you have been asleep for awhile? If this is the case, you may be like some who grind their teeth while they sleep. Some people can do this for years without any discomfort, then suddenly they grind those teeth down to a bad state and the discomfort starts. Pharmacies carry mouth guards that can be warn at night to cushion the affects of the grinding, I think the guards even help some people stop grinding their teeth. Have you had dental work done recently that required them to open your mouth really wide for a long length of time. That can sometimes flare up later by making the jaw hurt in such a way that it feels like a toothache. The best thing to do is to see a dentist if you can. But, if you are like me and don't have enough money or insurance, then try the mouth piece and see what happens. Sometimes problems in the jaw like TMJ can feel like a toothache.
Reply:It could be a lot of things: pain from grinding your teeth, cavities, an absess, wisdom teeth (if you haven't had them removed). I would go to the dentist soon. If they can't see what's wrong just from looking in your mouth, then they can take an xray and can usually see what's up. For now, take some pain meds. Motrin helps with toothaches in particular.
Reply:Either biting your tongue in your sleep or grinding your teeth. Just in case, head over to your dentist to see if it is not anything worse such as cavities or an abscess.
Reply:Please please see a dentist! I ignored my tooth pain off for 2 days and had to scramble to see someone Friday. Now the swelling is worse, and I just spoke to the dentist- if I don't respond to a different drug, I might have to be hospitalized- this is very serious. Don't do what I did and try to ignore it.
Please don't delay like I did! I so regret not seeing a dentist days ago, and I am very worried.
I don't mean to alarm you, and frankly, I got a little annoyed when other people on here told me the same thing. But they were right. Go immediately.

OTC toothache pain relief??
I have a minor toothache and I was wondering what the best OTC medication is that i can take. I have a dentist appt Friday but need this pain to ease a little before bed....any ideas??
OTC toothache pain relief??
As a dentist myself I always recommend Motrin (Ibuprofen), this is the best Over The Counter pain reliever as it will not only help with pain but will also help with inflammation. I usually recommend that my patients take between 600-800mg for ages over 18. Also try an ice pack, this will help numb the area affected and help with inflammation as well. An oral anesthetic like Orajel will also help numb the area. If the pain becomes severe you may want to consider calling your dentists emergency number for advice or to have him/her call you in a narcotic pain medication. Good luck and feel better soon
Reply:Take about 3 or 4 ibeuprofens...depending on your age.
You can rub some of the tooth gel medicine if you have any.
Also a warm towel up to your cheek might help.
Good luck
Reply:Orajel or Anbesol, and avoid any very cold or very hot foods/drinks.

Bad toothache help!!!?
My brother has a horrible toothache and unfortunately, he can't get to the Dentist until tomorrow morning. We tried giving him pain killers and those didn't work. Are there any effective home remedies??
Bad toothache help!!!?
He may have to just ride out the pain. Sometimes teeth can be so painful that nothing will help. Depending on where you live, Orabase is a topical and is made by Colgate. It is available over-the-counter at your pharmacy. That may help relieve some of the pain.
Reply:No you may need to go to the E.R if it;s that bad it can't wait..he probably has an infection around that tooth antibiotics need to be taken with pain meds.
Becareful what kinds of pain meds and how much and often you give them and DON"T mix pain meds!!!

Throbbing toothache!!?
i have really bad toothache and can't get an appointment at the dentist until next week. what can i do to relieve the pain? it keeps me awake most of the night and is driving me mad.please help. Thanks
Throbbing toothache!!?
Try some Oil of Cloves from the chemists. Seek his advice. Use sparingly as it can burn the gums a little.
Reply:Theres not much you can do until you get it fixed, you'll not find a doctor or dentist these days that will give ya nothing for pain, do like i did, pull it yourself, it don't hurt to long.
Reply:forget all that rubbish. Get some scotch whisky and swill it round the aching tooth. It ALWAYS works.
Whisky is an excellent short- term remedy for toothache.
Reply:Phone NHS Direct - if you are in pain they will find you an emergency dentist - it sounds like you have an abscess

Reply:While i was in the US NAVY as a dental tech we would use OIL OF CLOVE to help relieve a throbbing tooth ache and that might be what you might need to do also. You can purchase it at any health food store and it is not that costly. If there is a University close to where you live you might be able to get in to see a dental student who is studying to be a Dentist at a reduced or lower cost to you also. Good luck and please do not place a aspirin over the effected too the this burns the tissue and hurts after wards.
Reply:get some ibruprufien from chemist they,ve sorted me out every time....
Reply:i agree with the guy at the top until I got mine sorted out i used clove oil and it works so well my mum even used to use it when she was a child.
Reply:You need to be careful with Oil of Clove. It can be caustic to the surrounding tissues if you spill it. No dentist is worth his weight if he/she can't see you in an emergency situation. Find another one is my suggestion. Tooth pain that keeps you awake all night is indicative of a dying nerve, meaning you will most likely need a root canal. Another indication is pain to hot, like hot coffee or soup. Cold sensitivity is not an indication, per se, of needing a root canal, but heat sensitivity and pain when laying down is. Get treatment immediately, take ibuprofen for the pain until you do. You can call an endodontist, or root canal specialist, yourself, or ask your dentist to refer you to one over the phone. They are more likely to be able to see you immediately and will finish the job in just one visit. Good luck, there is no worse common pain than mouth pain.
Reply:It would be good to invest in some sensitivity toothpaste to help quell any other toothaches. About a year ago I had two teeth that were keeping me up at night with intense pain. I had no job at the time so unfortunately I could not afford dental care. I bought some Sensodyne Pronamel ($5-7) and after about 5 days the night pains had went away, and I was able to make it another 6 months before the pain returned (which then I had them pulled).
Reply:go to the chemist and buy some oil of cloves and dab it with connton wool bud on the tooth its really good and takes the pain away
Reply:Tidy boy - i am so with you.... i have an abscess %26amp; tommorow is my appointment after having been in agony for 4 days - 2 paracetamol %26amp; two ibuprofen every 4 hours (although they wear off after 3) Corsodyl mouthwash (this works). Other than that mate - its a joke the nhs!
Reply:Clove oil:Is great to use for toothaches. Apply a little on the affected tooth for some time and then rinse with warm water. Boil 5 grams of fresh peppermint in 1 cup water with a little salt. And rinse mouth well with this .Peppermint is an antiseptic and contains menthol which relives pain .Try out http://useinfo-dentalcare.blogspot.com/ for more details.
Reply:i think u need to ring them back first thing in the morning and get an emergency app, dont take no for an answer. clove oil is god, tastes like crap though, and copious amounts of pain killers!

Terrible Toothache?
Terrible toothache and terrible is an understatement. No sleep, can't eat, blood, worst pain. It's the weekend and there is no dentist at the hospital. What to do? What to do? Any instant remedies, not a cure, just some relief till monday please.
Terrible Toothache?
Take two Ibuprofen pills to stop the pain and inflammation. Rinse your mouth with warm water and peroxide. You may have an abcess which will need to be seen by a doctor. You can also go to the emergency room where they would give you an antibiotic if the pain is really bad. You can take the Ibuprofen every 4 hours until you can be seen by a doctor. I feel for you. I know how it can be and it isn't very pleasant. Put warm compresses on your face, too. That may help.
Reply:Try rinsing with some hydrogen peroxide diluted with some water. Best of luck!
Reply:Try taking some Tylenol or Aleve. That is what I take when I get toothaches and it really helps.
Reply:Go to the hospital trauma center. More than likely the doc will give you an antibotic, and something for pain as well.
Reply:well if u can get to a chemist this is what to do.....
nurofen liquid tablets, take 2 the first time! and get 500mg tablets of paracetemol and take 2 of them the first time after that take 1 of each every 4 hours! i get the worste toothache ever! and thats all that works! i have tried everythin! u need 2 eat b4 them though! so have a cup a soup or something!!!
if it's really bad also get bongela and plaster your mouth with that! and you can get oraldene mouthwash for toothache!
Reply:There is an old remedy my Grandmother used to use and it was to put ground up cloves on a piece of cotton and place it on the tooth. She would also put a piece of cotton soaked in whiskey on it to numb the nerve a bit.
Reply:Toothache is usually because of the inflammation of the pulp . If a tooth is affected home remedies like clove oil can provide temporary relief, but it is advisable to visit a dentist for a long term solution. More information available at
http://www.aches.in/toothache.html
Reply:Go get some Dr. tishners concetrated mouth wash. What you do is take a shot and hold it on the tooth as long as you can cause trust me it wont be in your mouth long. Its made from pure pepermint extract and what it will do is deaden the nerve. good luck.
Reply:Peroxide rinses will only help the gum tissue. You don't need that, you have a dying nerve and are in need of a root canal. If you can, take 600 mg of Ibuprofen (motrin) and three hours later take 2 extra strength tylenol. Keep alternating these two every three hours. It is great for both inflammation and pain and should at least help hold you over until you can get to the dentist.

BAD toothache?
HI! I have had a bad toothache for the last few days. On the one side of my mouth, I have one of my wisdom teeth growing in on the bottom and it is hurting like CRAZY! On the top (same side) I am having gum pain around one of my teeth.
On the other side of my mouth, one of my fillings is coming out. I was eating something this morning and bit into a big chunk of what appears to be the filling. Now, there is a big gap between my teeth and food gets stuck there and get's it REALLY irritated! I am having a lot of trouble sleeping.
Anyone have any suggestions?
BAD toothache?
If I were you, I would take an Aspirin or any type of pain killer. If the problem still persists, I recommend putting ice over it, that's what I did when I had a toothache and the area became numb and I forgot about it.
When you're sleeping, just try to think of something else and keep your mind on that and don't think of the toothache.
And of course, ask your dentist if the tooth ache keeps bugging you.
I hope this helps! =]
Reply:Go to the dentist
Reply:well your gums hurting is normal and natural
but the filling, put a replacement or but it back in
Reply:brushing helps some.. gargle with Listerine for as long as you can stand it.. it helps take the sting away... so does a strong Acohol like crown royal or jack daniels.... don't swallow it or more then your tooth will be hurting.. lol also oral-gel helps a bit.. good luck and call the dentist first thing Monday!!!

Emergency toothache remedies?????
I have a toothache!!! Nay, 2 of them!!!!! One in each side of my mouth! When my wisdom teeth came in, I was so afraid of the dentist that I put off having them removed for so long that the pressure from them growing in cracked all of the molars in all 4 jaw bones. So now here I sit, 8 years later, with not one but TWO teeth that are KILLING me!!! I have tried everything...tylenol, aleve, aspirin, darvocet, cloves, anbesol, orajel, and now lidocaine patches on my face! LOL I look like a freak here! Don't laugh at me, I AM in PAIN!!! Problem... I have an appointment with my dentist Thursday, but what the frick do I do until then??? Keep in mind if you will.. I have final exams for nursing school over the course of the next 2 days. So if it will knock me out, it really isn't an option.
Emergency toothache remedies?????
Hi, what you really need to do is go talk to all your professors, the head of the nursing school, whatever it takes. How can you possibly be expected to perform by any reasonable school?
You are not actually in the REAL world yet, if you have a medical emergency you need to take care of yourself, they can let you make up your exams a couple of weeks later.

going to the dentist is the real answer, you should have done that every 6 months for the past few decades anyway
good luck
Reply:clove oil is old remeidy
Reply:Have u tried a teabag dipped in honey and put where u hurt.
Wisdom teeth are dangerous, get them out quick.
Try ice and then heat....fill an empty pepsi plastic bottle with hot water or freeze some to put on pain.
Elevate your head, gargle with apple cider vinegar , salt water.
Take Motrin or Advil with a pepcid AC so u wont get an upset stomach. Good Luck , u will make it, pray to God for starters.
Reply:Did you call around and see if another dentist can see you earlier? If the apt. you have is w/ your regular dentist, and you are an established patient, they may make an exception for you since you are in so much pain. They may also call in an antibiotic and/or pain medicine for you if they can't see you earlier. Either way, call around and ask to be put on a cancellation list.
Also, since tomorrow is Monday, call around 9am. Many offices will have cancellations that they would like to fill in. You could luck up on an appointment that way.
As far as getting some rest goes, keep your head above your heart. This basically means don't lie down flat. Teeth usually hurt worse at night b/c of the bloodflow. Keeping your head elevated helps tremendously.
I hope you feel better soon!
Happy Holidays!
Reply:An old fashioned remedy was to put aspirin on the tooth, but I've heard that is not a good thing to do, so I'm not advising that. By this time I think you have had your dental appointment which is really the only real solution. There is ambesol, a medicine that you can use for dental pain (you can buy it at the store). That might help some but really don't be afraid of the dentist. If you feel bad about going to dentists you may want to consider the option of having the dentist just put you out (sleeping) while your dental work is done.
Reply:Vanilla extract
Reply:yes oil of clove. Alcohol is not good for it. it actually can make it worse.
Reply:Temporary relief: take three 200mg Ibuprofen tablets and spray you pain areas with something like Chloroseptic (bottle filled with red coloured stuff that almost taste like Buckley's cold medicine at first until it freezes your mouth like when getting a needle before having a cavity removed).
Reply:I had a horrible toothache once and had to wait for the abcess to go down before they could fix it. I was taking like 8 tylenol at a time and it wasn't touching the pain. The dentist told me your body gets used to pain meds, so he said to take ibuprofen for three days and tylenol for three days, rotate back and forth, because your body adjusts to the med and it won't work any more. It worked for me. Otherwise, I don't know...I feel for you and hope you find something that works...I think tooth pain is the worst. (And I've had 2 kids and a kidney stone!)
Reply:you may want to see your doc. you may have a bacterial infection my husband went through the same thing a few months ago....thought it was wisdom teeth he was putting off...and nothing could be done because the infection was causing the pain...
Reply:clove oil does work. Get it at the health food store or a pharmacy. It will be a small bottle- brown glass.
It is very potent, so don't get any on your tongue. Just a little drop on the painful teeth. Use a toothpick or Q-tip.
Reply:moonshine lol!

Severe toothache?
how to cure severe toothache without visiting the dentist?
Severe toothache?
Well, the eventuallity is that you will need to go see a dentist sooner or later, but in the meantime you can do a few things to help.
First take ibuprofin, not tylenol, this will help reduce any swelling that may be causing most of the pain.
Second, apply pure clove oil with a cotton swab, your teeth are pourous and the oil manages to seep into the sore spot eventually.
Third, go look at the link I added for more tips!
Sorry for your pain, it is possibly the WORST pain ever.
Reply:You might ease the pain by taking medication for severe period pain, from the chemist, but, if you have decay and nerve pain, you must visit the dentist. Be brave.
Reply:It is unlikely that you will find a cure without going to the dentist. Cloves have traditionally been used to give temporary relief from the pain. Pharmacies have a small choice of preparations that provide temporary relief. CoQ10 helps keep the gums healthy, whether it can assist tooth pain I do not know, but doubt it. Good luck.
Reply:pain killers
Reply:Toothaches are painful but can be prevented
by take suitable precautions. Avoid eating

Ouch toothache?
i have really bad toothache :'( whats the best thing to stop the throbbing pain, i cant even eat anything solid, ive tried ibroprofen but its not done anything :'( im going on holiday friday so i need it to clear up and i look like a hamster
Ouch toothache?
See your dentist asap, if it's swollen and you cant bite down on it, you have an infection, Ibuprofen wont clear up any infection and will only ease the pain for a limited time, if you take to many pain killers your body will become immune to them in the end and wont help ease the pain.
Give your dentist a call and get an emergency appointment, he/she will hopefully give you a course of antibiotics!
Reply:Dentist! Quick!
Reply:If Ibuprofen is not helping, you need to call your dentist and tell him/her it's an emergency. Only the dentist can ease your pain. S/he will help you look human again ;)
Reply:You can take a paracetomol based pain killer with the Ibuprofen and it wont affect you so it will be like double the dose, failing that a trip to the dentist is on the cards
Reply:Deffo see the Denitist.
If you are in the U.K the best pain relief i have found for toothaches is Boots own make dental pain relief. It is really good but to be honest if it is that bad you should see a dentist to recitfy the problem as no pain relief will help.
Reply:if you have swelling it sounds like an infection and you may need antibiotics. ring your dentist for an emergency appointment, in the meantime get some paramol painkillers from the chemist they are very strong and should stop the pain for a few hours.
Reply:oooh,sounds painful!
well, when you go away you want a nice relaxing break, not throbbing in pain don't you! i would get to the dentist as soon as you can and sort it out. then you can enjoy your holiday-have fun when you go! xxx :)
Reply:put oil of cloves or whiskey on tooth
Reply:The best thing to do would be to go to the dentist on an emergency appointment asap-ring up tomorrow morning and ask for one, explain your situation and they should do something about it quickly for you. In the meantime, take painkillers (Anadin Ultra is really good) and hope for the best. I hope you feel better very soon and have a brilliant holiday :-)
Reply:whiskey and emergency dentist
Reply:Oil of Cloves
is excellant at removing the throbbing pain - TEMPORARILY, ..until you can get to the dentist....go on you know you need to!
Reply:sounds like an abcess!! you need antibiotics and quick!! also try co codamol they are quite strong, you can combine these with ibuprofen as these are anti inflamatory pain killers.Good luck xx
Reply:I dont mean this at you directly, but why do people ask silly questions, nothing will get rid of it except getting a filling.

for the last 2 night's ive had really intense toothache where my filling has come out was literally climbing the walls last night...dentist doesnt have an appointment till Monday, Im taking nurofen plus that has subsided the pain but still hurts..anyone else know wots a gd pain relief?
Intense Toothache?
try combinations of codeine and the other things for sure.......but the best thing is a natural remedy with anaesthetic qualities..........oil of cloves will numb the pain
Reply:I'm with ya here, I've got an aching cavity and can't get in until Tuesday, Wow their getting you in on Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Nice. '
Take a pain killer that works so that in 4 hours you feel high and can't walk straight, and if you aren't sitting down or laying you will puke, that works great while gaming late at night, I actually like it. When you go to bed you fall asleep almost instantly.
Reply:You can buy a temporary filling mixture from chemists. It comes in a kit. It's not brilliant but will plug the exposed nerve until you get to the dentist. That should help.
If not then oil of cloves is supposed to be good though it tastes foul. Some people swear by neat alcohol dabbed on the tooth.
Keep up with the pain killers.
Reply:clove. put 1 or 2 between the sore tooth and your gum, it does help.
Reply:If you are in the UK ring NHS diect who will give you numbers of local emergency dentists who should be able to see you the same day, ring them and tell them that you are in agony and may pass out and they will get you in very speedy. The best over the counter pain killers you can take are paracetamol and paracetamol (follow the directions on the box) but if you have any co- codamol (paracetamol and codeine ) this is also good. Hope this helps
Reply:Have a look through the cupboard, see if you have any cal gel from when the kids were teething. Works a treat.
Reply:I feel for you. I had an abcess last year, that made childbirth seem a doddle. I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but please go to Superdrug if you can tomorrow. There are some painkillers which they recomended to me that are in a black box. About £4.95. They were the only thing that got me through until my appointment.
