why do i suffer more with toothache at night then i do in the day?
Toothache at night?
It's not the fact that it's night, but it's because you lay down at night.
You probably have an abscess. This is almost diagnostic. If you have inflammation in an area, there is more blood flow to that area. If you place that same area lower than the rest of your body, there will be even more blood in the area. This makes the area start to throb.
If someone has an abscess and I have just started a root canal or if they are going on antibiotics for a few days before I remove the tooth, I tell them to sleep on an extra pillow to elevate their head. If that doesn't work, they can move to a recliner or the sofa so they can keep their head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain.
Reply:Becouse during the day you have other stuff to think about, and at night u only think about the pain.
Laurence.
Reply:ur tooth works all day, while eating, breaking somethin ...etc...
so it is a lousy, tired peice of crap at night.it pains of the work you made em do
Reply:during day u are busy so u dont feel the pain
Reply:I think it's cause thats when your entire body is at its most relaxed stage, if you need temporary releif, bite down on a cotton ball soaked with wiskey, or take a couple good swigs, it always takes my pain away!
Reply:You are more sensitive to pain when you relax. Do you could have tooth pain if you are relaxed in the afternoon, if this is not the same as evening you might have a cavity that you need to see a dentist.
Reply:Never mind day or night. Here is the remedy. Take a strong fishing line. Tie one end around your tooth, the other end around a door handle, open door wide, stand far back and slam door shut, hard! Tooth out, drink a Scotch or a Schnapps or two, Whoa! what a relieve and each time you want a Scotch or Schnapps again you do not have to have a tooth ache. Works for me, actually i am going to poor me a Dimple now. Cheers.
Reply:its like everything wants to keep you awake at night
Reply:Could be that the filling is high, thats why it may hurt during the day as your using your jaw and at night your sleeping.
Go to the dentist and ask him to have a look, he'll check it with a bit of paper and he/she can polish it a bit, you dont need to be dumbness up less your tooth is very sensitive. He'll probably suggest that you see how it goes after that. sometimes after a filling your nerve can give up the ghost and die off, but sometimes you have to let it get worse before you know,
Id check for it being a little on the high side ( proud) anything like that and the dentist will understand.
