Terrible Toothache, please, please help!!!!?

I have a very strong toothache. It is in the upper right part of my mouth. It hurts when I close my mouth and put pressure on the tooth. I would go to my dentist, but she isn't open until Monday! (2 days from now) Do you have any suggestions on how to make the pain go away? I took some tylenol just a few minutes ago, but the dose wasn't big enough.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can make the pain go away? It needs to be something I can do at home. However, any help is greatly appreciated.

Terrible Toothache, please, please help!!!!?
You can buy extra strong pain killers like nurofen plus that are so strong they can only be sold at pharmacys so I suggest you should go get some of them. Also the pharmacist who is there is trained in dealing with things like this so he might be able to prescribe you something better as they can do that or if it is really bad then there is a dental part of the hospital that is always open. You might consider going there.

Hope you find something :)
Reply:Orajel %26amp; Tylenol

Sorry to hear you don't feel well. Feel better soon!
Reply:Call your DDS. Most likely she has an emergency number on her voice mail.

Try warm salt water or mouth wash. But seriously call your DDS.
Reply:Tylenol won't do much for a toothache. Take ibuprofen and you can take up to 4-200mg. tablets. That would make one prescription strength. I would start off with 2 though and see if that works. That's the only thing that I can think of. Good luck and I hope you feel better. I hate toothaches!! Call your dentist on Monday, even if its feeling better.
Reply:I"ve been there, and Aleve saved my life until I got to the dentist. Best over-the-counter pain medicine I've ever used.
Reply:If I were you I would call my dentists office number even though the office is closed. Often there will be recording with an emergency number you can call, or your doctor will be paged. The doctor may come and help you on the weekend or call in a prescription for a stronger pain killer to your pharmacy. Good luck - I've been there.
Reply:If you can't get to a dentist soon, try something to keep that part of your mouth numb. Try some pain reliever and lay down. Try to fall asleep.

That's what I did, numbed it with ice then fell asleep, it felt fine in the morning. =)

Hope your pain goes away soon! =/
Reply:take the strongest pain reliever you have...i can only take tylenol which is useless unless you take more than is healthy and dont do that because what is worse than a tooth ache ? a tooth ache and being nauseas

next hold some whiskey in your mouth for a while you can spit it out if you are under age hold the booze in mouth for at least five minutes

then soak a q tip in some orajel and put it on that tooth and leave it there then try to go to sleep

dont choke on q tip...really tooth ache is the worse so sorry you are in pain

edited to add

you can also try to find the nerve by your jaw joint and press really hard on it...if the pain is bad some times that would help me ..either i was pressing so hard that the joint was hurting more than the tooth or i was able to cut off the nerve sending a signal??....not sure.....you have to press around your jaw joint until you find the right place like around your earlobe but more on your face and press hard ....oh and put ice on the out side of your face and hold it there....really dont like saying this but if you are desperate do you have any thing to help you sleep? like tylanol pm? ...sleep really helps ..i know it hurts bad but try to sleep you might wake up and it will be over...good luck...geez my teeth hurt just thinking about it arrrghhh
Reply:It sounds like you have an absess (which is an infection below the gumline) or possibly a cracked tooth. For the pain, take ibuprophrin to relieve swelling (tylenol doesn't relieve swelling, ibuprophrin is an anti-inflammitory which will help reduce swelling---I would suggest doing that right away, even if you just took tylenol). Either way, you are going to be in some pain until you see your dentist. Try putting an icepack on that side of your face and avoid chewing anything (which you probably already are) on that side.
Reply:Well first off as you well know you need to call your dentist. Chances are you have an infection. Use Ib pro. This will reduce the swelling that causes pain. Then you can try to ice it to relieve pressure. You can call your dentist or go to the er at any time of day or night and get a prescription for antibiotics (to kill the infection) and a pain killer. Good luck tooth pain is the worst kind of pain known to man. As far as dosage you can take up to 5 250 mg of ib. every 6 hours this will help a bunch!

Dental care %26amp; mouth care.

After every meal, chew a little salt and gargle with water. Soft brush can be used to clean the particles caught between the teeth and the gums. Make it habit to clean the teeth every morning and before retiring to bed. In India, people use thin twig of a Babul, Banyan or a Neem tree (known as Datoon) as a brush. First it is to be crushed to make it soft and then use it like a brush. It is advisable to us a Datoon of Babul, Banyan or Neem tree at least once a day.

It is reported by experienced dentists that tooth pastes available in the marked are not much effective. Instead, the following tooth powder or paste which can be easily made at home has been found quite useful for the care of gums and teeth :

1. Tooth Powder : Mixture of finely ground alum powder 40% and rock salt or regular salt powder 60%. For better results, a few drops of lemon may be added. In case of dental problems, adding a little of 'Sudarshan' (a bitter Ayrvedic powder is also recommended.

2. Tooth-paste : For dental problems like bleeding, pyorrhoea, toothache, gingivitis, etc. make a paste of

50% alum powder

10% rock salt or table salt powder

10% Sudarshan powder (an Ayurvedic preparation)

15% edible oil (unrefined)

10% glycerine tanic acid

5% camphor.

The paste made of this mixture can be massaged on the teeth and gums in the morning and evening with fingers. It ca be packed in collapsible tubes/jars and used, as tooth-paste.

3. Even massaging the gums with a mixture of 70% unrefined edible oil (seasame or groundnut or coconut), 15% glycerine tanic acid and 15% fine powder of rock salt or table salt is useful for good, healthy teeth and gums. Make it a daily habit. Please not that healthy gums are more useful than sparkling white teeth.

4. Mouth Freshener : Gargling with a lemon juice mixed with lukewarm water, freshens the mouth. Take a quarter of a lemon, massage it on teeth and gums and then gargle with water. Even chewing of mango, tulsi or betel leaves after meals is good, and so it is advised in India.

5. Exercises for teeth : Keep the lips closed. Pound the upper teeth on lower teeth for 30 to 40 times twice a day. Then massage the saliva on gums with the tongue. That will ensure proper blood circulation in teeth and increase the life of healthy teeth and gums.
