Bad Toothache???
I know you are not going to like this answer, but as a practicing dentist (DMD) you are going to need to see your regualr dentist or take a visit to your local emergency room. You may have an infection, or abscessed tooth which is not only extremely painful, but also very life threatening. Your are going to need to be prescribed an antibiotic as this infection will NOT go away on its own. Your best bet is to call a dentist to schedule an emergency appointment, your dentist will be able to prescribe you an antibiotic and pain medication and this will save you from a costly visit to your ER as you will only end up needing to be seen by a dentist anyway. An infected tooth (abscess) is a very serious problem that only your dentist will be able to treat; if not treated this infection can spread to the throat causing airway obstructions, and can also spread to the heart and brain. Until you can see a dentist or visit your local ER (either one you will need to do because you will need an antibiotic) try using a cold compress on the face closest to the tooth thats bothering you. Also try taking Motrin or Advil, this will not only help with pain but also help with any inflammation or swelling. By all means, PLEASE see a dentist or ER physician as soon as possible. Good luck!
Reply:Find a dental school near you. We have one here in Milwaukee (most states do) that take patients with no insurance and hardly no money at all. 20 bucks maybe.

These are dental students under the watchful eye of their instructors and you would be amazed how well they do and how hard they work.

Good luck.
Reply:Because you have chipped your tooth and not got it checked out there is a good cance you now have an absess (nothing much to worry about) this is because it has got infected due to the chip. Absesses normally do get more painful at night.

You are supposed to go to the dentist as they prescribe some antibiotics for it.......but i didnt go for mine when it came abck 2nd time around and i gave it a week and it went.
Reply:I know it sucks having to put out money when you do not have any but if nothing else is working and it is getting worse you really need to see someone because there is very likely an infection. Many people don't realize it but it can escalate into a life threatening situation if you continue to have it untreated. If you can't find a free clinic to go to then I would at least get a hold of some general antibiotics to take just incase it is an infection.
Reply:call the red cross. they are for helping families in an emergency siuation, I think this would constitute an emergency. an alternative is a dental college.
Reply:You need to go to a qualified dentist ASAP. A lot of dentists have payment plans for people without insurance and will usually work with a patient. Tell them about your financial problem and that your insurance doesn't kick in for a few months. I'm sure they will be willing to work with you. You may have an infection and it could end up being that they would not only be able to fix the tooth but more teeth could be damaged due to infection. Most dentists will tell you to take Advil unless they give you a prescription for something stronger. GO TO THE DENTIST TODAY!!! DON'T WAIT!!!
Reply:Sounds like you are going to have to have a root canal and a crown and I know how it is with no insurance it is expensive.

LIke the previous one try a dental school I know my mom did it for 500.00 all together. With out an RX the only thing I can say to take for the pain is 800 mg of Ibuprofen.
