Toothache for 2 years!?

I have had toothache for almost 2 years.. i have had root canal on 2 teeth, one tooth taken out, and ALL the teeth on the bottom left filled in at least 3 times each with different kinds of fillings, 4 courses of anti biotics, im still in agony. ive seen 3 different dentists, been to the ear nose and throat clinic, no one can find a problem, has anyone had anything like this before? i dont know what to do :( the pain moves about, sometimes in my ear, my jaw, different teeth on the bottom left.

Toothache for 2 years!?
Maybe your getting food stuck in between your teeth. food can get compacted and cause your teeth to hurt really bad. try flossing your teeth a couple times a day for a few weeks and see if the pain lessens
Reply:try a good chiropractor. Yes, they do cranial adjustments, and teeth adjustments - something is out of whack.
Reply:You might be grinding your jaw. Look up TMJ on google. Stress and other factors could have a role in you problem. Ask your dentist about this; he/she might be able to help.

Good Luck.
Reply:either your fillings are leaking or you have nerve damage.i had this and it went away on its own.do you drink sugary drinks like soda or juice or put a lot of sugar in your coffee?if you do you should stop drinking them.also brush and floss your teeth after every meal and right before bed.
Reply:maybe if they have not come through it may be your wisdom teeth because i have had tooth ache for ages because my wisdom teeth are coming through and its only just cutting the gum after about a year but my other teeth hurt cus i have a gap and my wisdom tooth is pushing my other teeth forward and it hurts like hell and my ear and my jaw hurts too. i hope you get it sorted because i have every sympathy for you because tooth ache is one of the worst pains you can get
Reply:Consider pulling all your bottom teeth. It's not as bad as the top teeth but you may not have a choice.

My first question would to ask you, do you suffer with a lot phlem?, sore thoats?, swollen glands?, and/or sinus related problems but is not sinuitis?. If so, it sounds as though you are going though what I gone though.

Firstly, do you have any embedded roots that need taking out? also have you have any abscesses or still got any abscesses in your mouth?

At the start, I went to an ENT as I thought all my problems were sinus based and after 14 months, they gave me the all clear of my sinuses, they then referred me to a Maxilofacial surgeon who then found numerous abscess in my upper teeth, mainly at the back where the molar and wisdom teeth are and then later to find out the otherside molar is also infected. I am having these out in 2 days, cant wait. Then hopefully everything is going to calm down. However, with this I also had pain in the ears, ear infections, headache, temprature and facial pains. Abscesses left untreated and other teeth infection too can cause ill health all over your body, and not just in the mouth.

I have been having antibiotics for over 14 months now, off and on and each time they are not working as good as the last time, even though they are giving me stronger ones. For you, get to your local Oral and Maxilofacial surgon, get referred by your dentist or doctor of even the ENT and get him to do some pan-oral x-rays to check where the infections are.

I do feel sorry for you because left untreated, it can be nasty and it can cause sepsis of the blood where infection kicks in and out of the bloodstream. Antibiotics does help this but each time it does get worse.

Root canals are good but they can fail, so even though you think that they are Ok, they can still get abscessed if the dentist has left any pulp in there and it has re-infected. If they are not in a vital area, have them removed or have an apisectomy. I had this and it is not as bad as it sounds, I even had it under a local as I am chicken, hehe. If your teeth are hurting, then at least your teeth are alive, unlike mine they were dead and had no pain, sounds better but not in the long run as you do not know you have got an abscess until you get chronic other symptoms.

So, I hope I have helped you there. I know it is not nice all of this, but hopefully now you have a clear mind into knowing what to do next but you should keep in mind that there could be 2 problems going out at once with your teeth and nose. You must find out which one and dont leave it too late.

All the best,

T

Not to scare you and i dont know what age you are, but constant toothache and pain in the jaw can be a sign of heart problems due to a restriction of blood to the teeth and jaw area. Just so you can rule it out.Heart attack symptoms can also be very unusual and may include pain in the armpits, toothache, or right-sided chest pain and arm pain.

It sounds like its a temporomandibular joint problem if you are having pain on waking even though you are using a mouth guard then you are grinding your teeth but if the pain is on one side then you need to have the guard remade as its not doing its job properly.See the site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporomand... for further info on this condition and have yourself referred to a specialist in maxillofacial surgery who specialise in diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. They may decide to refer you to an orthodontist who will check the alignment of your teeth. I really hope this helps, toothache is the worst pain
Reply:This could be a problem with your occlusion (the way your teeth meet together). Any headaches/neck and back ache too? If the problem is moving from tooth to tooth, don't get any pulled, it'll just move somewhere else. The nightguard idea is fine but it needs to be adjusted correctly or it'll do no good.
Reply:now that is one seriously long tooth ache
Reply:it seems to me that you suffer from pulpitis from your left bottom tooth.check out if you have an impacted third molar to left side either lower or upper
