I get the worst sharp pains in my tooth but only when I lay down. Even taking pain killers won't make the toothache go away. The only thing that stops it or keeps the pain from starting is if I sit straight up. So I have been having to sit up on my couch recliner just so I can go to sleep without a toothache. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Yes I have seen it a few times. Pressure changes increases when lying down. Tooth may be going to abcess. See your dentist!! DMD here
