Toothache! Oil of cloves?

I've had a toothache on and off the past few days. It goes away for a long time then comes back real bad. I was told to get ibuprofen and oil of cloves. I can't find oil of cloves! I tried Eckerd pharmacy..where can you buy this? I won't be seeing the dentist for several days due to my stupid insurance

Toothache! Oil of cloves?
Try the health food store ..or a Chinese herbalist

**Mouth Care: Clove oil is suggested for toothaches, and can help freshen breath. You may have tasted the sweet-hot flavor of clove oil in over-the-counter toothache medicines. Try a drop of this healing oil (available at drugstores and health-food stores) to ease an aching tooth until you can see a dentist.

I am not sure you would want to try this but I have had some very bad toothaches that also come back. I found that staying away from solid food if there is a large hole or abscess till I have my appointment. I rinsed my month first with peroxide it is tasteless so do not swallow but let it foam around tooth and rest of mouth. I then rinse with warm water then use a very strong antiseptic mouth wash. I leave that in my mouth as long as I can stand it. That will help clear up an infection which magnifies the pain. I use the mouth wash as many times as needed to get relief. The heat from the mouth wash helped to rid some of the pain. The cloves will help with pain but not germ killing. I really hope this helps I know it hurts a great deal. Use the peroxide and mouth wash as part of your daily regiment to keep any abscesses away. ~A~
Reply:That is wonderful glad it helped,my mom shared that info with me when I had a monsterous absess. I use it twice a week (the peroxide) the mouth wash several times a day and after brushing. Take care and thank you too* Report It

Reply:Try Oragel teething cream in the baby aisle. It works real well, is non-toxic, and easier to find than oil of cloves ... just about every pharmacy or grocery will carry it, even some convenience stores do.
Reply:Try some Whiskey, I heard it also numbs the pain.
Reply:maybe try a natural homopathy shop or natural remedy shop

or try putting a clove on ur tooth, i have heard this works too, the cloves they put in apple pies

also try disolving asprin on tooth slowly

lemon essence or drops of lemon juice on the tooth i have heard is good
Reply:Try lots of Tequlia, a string and a doorknob, that should fix the toothache, can't help ya with the headache after though!
Reply:Clove oil works wonders on a tooth ache...............good luck
Reply:1. Oil of cloves does work as a local anaesthetic. Pharmacies ought to have it.

2. Use some disinfectant mouth solution.

3. You might need an antibiotic, do go to the doctor, insurance has nothing to do with it.

4. Ouzo (typical greek alcoholic drink) is also local anaesthetic for teeth. Just make sure you spit it out, or you'll get drunk.

5. Ice cold water will help with the pain if you've got pulpitis.
Reply:OMG, it is sooo good.

I had a condition called Wisdom tooth dry socket, it's the most painful thing I ever endured(almost up there with childbirth). My dentist packed the socket with clove. The relief was immediate. It's soooo strong. It works as a anesthetic(numbs it) and as an antiseptic(cleans up the germs/infection). If you can't find it in a drug store, call a local dentist. My dentist took care of it for free, I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much if you phone around.
Reply:If u cant find oil of cloves go to an Indian grocery store buy a pack of cloves. They would cost u 2 - 3 dollars and u would get like 100 - 200 cloves minimum. Just take one clove and put it in ur mouth and bite it for a while. U can chew the clove or spit when ur pain eases. I bet ur pain would ease. Have it whenever u are in pain . Its a harmless spice and good for ur gums and breath. Back in India this is just an instant home remedy as every home has this. Gudluck.
