Toothache HELP!?

Toothache HELP!?
Most pain medications do almost nothing for pain, they just make you feel "high" in an attempt to distract you from the pain.

It is not a home remedy, but going to walmart or any store with a pharmacy area, get "Red cross toothache medication" or anything with Eugenol(Clove Oil). Rather than just dabbing it on, for severe pain, soak the cotton ball that comes with it, and bite down on it for 30 seconds or more.

That is how I got through the pain when I needed a root canal.

Also, some emergency dental clinics will see you immediately. I got in the next morning with no appointment.

As someone mentioned below to take Antibiotics:

NEVER EVER EVER take leftover antibiotics. If you have any left over, something is wrong(you should always finish all your antibiotics even if you think the infection is gone). If you have any left over, GET RID OF THEM. Taking antibiotics like this can cause the bacteria to become resistant to them.
Reply:Dap whiskey around the sore tooth, helps numb the pain, keep taking painkillers, maybe if you go to a chemist they can give you something a bit stronger, worth a try.
Reply:buy some clove oil from the chemist rub that on it tastes foul but works
Reply:clove oil tastes horrible but works, and its cheap from chemists, just dont use too much or you'll know about it
Reply:go to chemist and ask for oil of clove it is brill, cheap and sorry but you wont feel drunk lol,
Reply:ring the dentist back and tell them its an emergency, i`m sure they have to see you if you are in pain. failing that go to your local a%26amp;e. thing is,if you have an abscess in there they wont treat you untill the infection has cleared so you might need anti-biotics first anyway so if all else fails it might help to see your doctor. KICK UP A FUSS!
Reply:ANBESOL, you can get it from the chemist and dab it round the gum area of the toothache. It helps and can be reapplied as and when you need it. It is also good for ulcers, sore gums etc. I swear by it.
Reply:Oh Dear,

I'm very sorry for you. Try different pain killers but eventually not even the most powerful ones help very much. But try extra stre=wngth ones.

The next thing is that most towns do have an NHS emergency service. Try looking in the phone book. I'm sure you can find one especially if you are prepared to travel.

You can find the nearest one at http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

The only difference is that these places are very quick, a small fee £15 ??? and you dont get any of the normal chit chat but they will get you out of pain mostly by taking your tooth out.

Good Luck
Reply:Apply touch and go
Reply:START TAKING ANY LEFT OVER ANTIBIOTICS ASAP!!!

The painkillers will not work in the event that the infection is that bad, and in your case....it is that bad. Make sure that if you do have leftover antibio's that the are not expired. You will need to see a dentist of course, for possible extraction. BUT IM TELLING YOU%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;about 2-3 days of antibiotics will allow the painkillers to work, but by then, you should be able to have been to the dentist.

Another think that works, as a home remedy....

EITHER OR...

Swoosh warm salt water (highly concentrate the salt) for a good 5 minutes....

and

CLOVES.....

ground cloves....place about 3 tablespoons in a large cup, and fill the rest with warm water. Stir, then drain to seperate the cloves from the water. it will numb your whole mouth!

OTC relief is a non issue. As orajel will actually hurt if it gets inside the infected tooth.

GET TO A DENTIST....dont wait it out, because infections in the mouth are more and more being linked to other aggitations of the sinuses and even the brain......up and coming research an all.

Reply:When I had a tooth ache over Christmas I couldn't get to see someone until a couple of days after but when I did my dentist recommended a mouth wash called Crosodyl (I don't know if that is how you spell it) and dilute with half water as it's very strong. That should help you until see you see the dentist. In actual fact, the mouth wash took away my tooth ache and it turned out I had trapped food lodged in the gum that my toothbrush nor floss could reach!
Reply:oil of cloves used very carefully
Reply:peppermint oil on a cotton ball right against the tooth and gum. and just a drop at a time. it is amazing how this works.
Reply:Actually i have a bad tooth and am waiting to see a doctor as well. Pain killers really dont work well. A toothache is one of the most painfull things ever. What helps me is to gurgle with warm water quite often or to keep a hot rag on the side of your face. Good luck!
Reply:Toothaches are painful but can be prevented

by take suitable precautions. Avoid eating

food which will result in the formation of acid

in the mouth, brush teeth regularly with a fluoride

toothpaste. I found the information at
