If a toothache goes away does it mean it wasnt serious?

A few days ago i had dull littlle annoying pain on the right side of my teeth, i think it was a wisdome tooth but since then its been fine, hasnt got worser or anything.

My Question is if the toothache was serious or if it was an infection the pain would just carry on right and get worse? i am going to the dentist sometime next week as its Easter at the moment and dental surgeries are closed.

If a toothache goes away does it mean it wasnt serious?
think it would continue to get worse mine hurt then go away sometimes
Reply:Probably eroded the nerves
Reply:If you're going to the dentist next week, then not to worry.

The last piece of advice my dentist gave me was if it's not constantly bothering you - then it's probably nothing. An infected wisdom tooth, if there was a problem, would keep hurting.
Reply:If it goes away it's usually nothing to worry about. But it's good you're going for a checkup anyhow.
Reply:This happened to me about six weeks ago. I was really pleased when it went away but it returned after about a week and I have had to have it extracted. Sorry but it's true, it had an infection at the root.
Reply:It really depends on the cause of the pain. If it is an erupting wisdom tooth, you may be over the worst if the tooth is now fully erupted. However, if the pain were due to the tooth being impacted, an abcess or decay the reprieve may only be temporary. The cessation of pain could also be due to the nerve in the tooth dying which would mean a root canal treatment and crown would be necessary, but let's hope not.
Reply:Sometimes it goes away for ages then comes back better to get the dentist to check it
