Toothache?

i dont know to do it hurts so bad right now ive tried ibprofen and orgel and they are not helping

i had a root canal done on it a year ago but a piece of my tooth and the filling came off

i dont understand why its hurting so bad now

Toothache?
If it isn't sensitivity with hot or cold, indicating that it is another tooth, then you probably need a retreatment of one or more of the canals from your original root canal. Once the root canal is redone, the tooth will probably need a crown placed over it to protect it from further fracture. Try 4x200mg of ibuprofen or 800 mg total.

You need to see a dentist to either have it retreated, or to have it extracted. If it is bad enough where you can't wait, either call your dentist now, there are probably instructions on the answering system as to how to get ahold of him/her, or go to the emergency room.
Reply:I'm sorry to hear about your problem. If you already had a root canal it obviously failed. You need to have the tooth removed. Unfortunately this involves having a bridge done(very expensive) In the mean time you need to get some pain releivers because no over-the-counter meds will help. Sorry. Best of luck to you!
Reply:OW!! I feel for ya....I have the same problem here...except I haven't had a root canal...just lost half of two teeth along with the fillings...The pain is caused by infection usually...Every time I have had a BAD toothache....that orajel wouldn't "NUMB"....it was an infection, and after a couple of days on amoxicillin I felt 100% better. You should have the full 10 day prescription though...I'm almost positive, if you could get that it would make the pain better...Maybe, if you can't go to the dentist, you could call and ask if they could call you in an antibiotic? Wouldn't hurt to try...Thats what I am gonna do first thing Monday morning...Thank goodness the orajel is working for me...Are you putting it inside the tooth, where the filling is missing....Thats what I do and it really helps!!!! Good Luck!!!
Reply:You could try clove oil as a short term measure until you can get to the dentist. It doesn't taste too good but it has worked like magic for me in the past. Get it from the chemist and dab it on with a cotton bud.
